Dear TALC Friends,

What a pure pleasure it is to be working with this dynamic theater community! We had more than 50 people in our last virtual meeting for the MN Theater Standards Document (MNTS)!!! For those who were able to make it, thank you for your time. We learned so much from your sharing, and are refining our information gathering to streamline the process and make the best use of the time we have together. More people are stepping in to active positions to help keep this work moving forward and to do it joyfully. It feels so good to have some momentum building in this work we have taken on together. We are so grateful to be on this journey with you.

Our next virtual Community Conversation meeting will be held via Zoom on Monday July 13th from 3pm to 5pm. We will be discussing a very important part of the document, The Declaration of Purpose. If you are able to join us please register below in the "Prepare for the Next Conversation" section.

We will be splitting into smaller discussion groups and would like to have diversity within the groups, so signing up before hand will give us the ability to do that. After you have registered you will receive the Zoom link for the meeting. This will also help us keep the "Trolls" out of our space. We will be providing you with some materials to prepare for the conversation. We promise it won't be too much, but enough to get your mind working so you can come to the meeting with some thoughts to share.

We are so looking forward to this next meeting! Seeing people's faces on a flat screen is a sad substitute for the real thing, but we will have to settle for this for now.

"We See You, White American Theater"

On June 8th many of our friends and colleagues from around the country put out a statement – We See You White American Theater.

We need to change. We must stop hurting our friends.  The revolution starts with ourselves.  This must be part of the conversation. 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

We have created Google Docs for the notes that were taken at our previous meetings. These notes are our guide to moving forward with creating the MNTS document. If you would like to read them you can access them by clicking the link below 

WORKING GROUPS

In order to provide opportunities for the community to participate in the areas of the document that most interests them, we have created a Virtual Working Group Interest Sign Up Sheet. Once you have filled out this form we can place you in groups that are working on the areas that most interest you. If you have already filled it out, you do not need to do it again. If you haven't and would like to participate and be informed when these working sessions are taking place, please click on the button below and fill out the form. Working Groups will meet at times other than the larger Community Conversation Meetings, but may also have working times designated during the monthly meetings depending on what needs to happen in our document building process.

PREPARE FOR THE NEXT CONVERSATION

Please click the link below to sign up for the meeting on July 13th. We will start the meeting together at 3pm to present the guidelines for discussion about the Declaration of Purpose, then we will be spilling into smaller discussion groups for at least an hour so everyone will have a chance to participate. After you sign up we will email a link for the meeting and provide you with some materials to read in order to prepare prior to the meeting. (If you are not able to read the materials, it's not a deal breaker, we want you to be able to join us regardless and you will catch onto what is being discussed, but please prepare if you can.) At the end we will gather again as a large group to hear notes from the smaller groups, discuss how we plan to move forward and announce a schedule for Working Groups that will happen before our larger Community Meeting on August 10th.

UPCOMING TALC MEETINGS & EVENTS

July:

July 11th- TALC Admins will be speaking to the Catalyst Arts Town Hall Meeting participants about the work we are doing. Meeting begins at 10am. For more information about Catalyst Arts and this Town Hall style meeting, you can access their Facebook Page here

July 13th- Community Conversation to continue working on the MNTS via Zoom at 3pm

August:

August 10th- Community Conversation to continue working on the MNTS via Zoom Time TBD

September and Beyond:

As we move through the creating of the MNTS we will have a better idea of timeline for of launching this document and how we will circulate and get buy in from the institutions it is intended to inform.
