Dear Fellow Resident of Noir Nation,
Those regularly visiting the NN website no doubt saw that we have been revising the covers of prior issues so they are consistent with the new style sheet, which requires a single photographic image (no illustrations) on covers.
The changes have been more than stylistic. We are also moving the journal away from tattoo illustrations for interior art and focusing on text. Noir Nation magazine will be a straight literary effort. Noir Nation No. 6, our most recent release, was the first issue in the new vein. Over time, we will ensure the interiors of prior issues will be consistent with the new style sheet.
The policy of paying contributors will continue.
As to Noir Nation No. 7, please have a look at the attached draft cover. The issue will include the winners of the Golden Fedora poetry awards and other works of poetry. Please feel free to share your thoughts with the editor.
We will be making an open call for fiction and poetry on the NN website and social media channels by the end of 2018. However, newsletter subscribers can start submitting work right now. Work should be e-mailed to editor@noirnation.com with "No 7 fiction submission" or "No. 7 poetry submission." We usually include one work of nonfiction, either an essay on the noir form, or an interview.
There will be no theme associated with the issue, though one may emerge. Submit your best work and follow the submission guidelines.
Best!
Eddie Vega
Editor, Noir Nation
