roaring into a new decade |

Welcome to One in a Mulligan! If I'm being honest, I'm hoping to stay awake until 10pm... |

What's in a decade? The past ten years brought a lot my way. I graduated high school. I got married. I turned twenty-one and had a pretty eventful six weeks before retiring into sobriety. (Life after 9pm and outside of the house is not for me) I battled infertility for three years and won when I gave birth to a pretty amazing kiddo who takes the world by storm. I survived trauma and came out on top. I learned to surround myself with people who radiate light and to put my heart first. I found my voice. I created this website and started to grow a community. We got ourselves a sweet little pup to love. Overall, the 2010s were pretty darn great. + I don't come up with resolutions and goals for the coming year. I prefer to look back on a period of time and marvel over what I've accomplished. After all, a year - or even ten - passes in the blink of an eye. I want to make the most of my time on earth, not set unattainable goals and wallow when I haven't accomplished something that I thought was right for me at one point in time. If resolutions work for you, that's amazing. All I'm saying is that: I can be gentle and kind, even though I haven't lost those twenty pounds. I'm can be grateful for this life, even though I didn't walk 10,000 steps a day. We rent our house and it hasn't been feasible to buy our forever home, but we still have a sweet and cozy place to live. I haven't stepped foot in a gym in years, but I have still gone places that I never thought I could. I haven't seen the world, the country, or even past the East Coast...but I've made a lot of friends in all areas of our planet. + For every difficult moment, I have just as many surreal, happy-tear inducing, can't-believe-this-is-my-life moments. I choose to reflect on those. I hope that you do, too. You are more than any resolution and any one declaration. You are you. Irreplaceable you. Go into this next decade believing that you are enough. + Happy New Year, friends! I hope that 2020 brings us all more good than bad, more wins than losses, and more love than hate. ♡ xoxoxkm ♡ P.S. FRIENDS! I have been published on The Mighty! AGAIN! Can you believe that such an amazing, reputable, resourceful community has selected me to contribute for a second time? I was also asked to write a piece for Hello Bello - you know, the incredible company founded by Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard! What is this life?! I am positively, absolutely, undeniably the luckiest. If you took the time to read and/or share with someone who needs it, I would be so extremely grateful. ♡

In my post, A Letter to My Sweet Boy on One of Those Days, I discuss the difficulties of IFSP/IEP and other fateful meetings. Those days are hard. "Today was hard. We will have a lot more days like this, but on these days, we move mountains. We do hard, painful work, but then we come home to each other and continue to live the truth that we know: that you are not what is written on paper."

Your monthly, not-so-gentle reminder that it's cold, flu, and RSV season. Every person in a child’s life – grandparents, aunts and uncles, siblings, cousins, and friends – is responsible for keeping him or her healthy. Do your part: Get your flu shot, wash your hands, stay home if you’re sick, and be mindful when in proximity of a baby (especially those that were born prematurely) or immuno-compromised child. |
