The Santa Barbara Update

Commercial Real Estate News

Weekend Plans

  • Validation Ale will be opening its second location at 2840 De La Vina after a significant renovation (formerly a chinese restaurant, rendering at left). Aiming for a summer 2024 opening!

  • The Nook is building out a pizza oven in the Topa Topa side of The Waterline, which will hopefully be open later this year.

  • Fresco closed on Canon Perdido and a well-known pair of businesses swooped in before it even hit the market (still confidential, but hoping to be able to announce soon!)

  • Third Window took over the old Wildwood Kitchen space, and will now be serving their famous smash burgers out of that side of The Mill.

Tech Talk

  • Sonos moving its headquarters to ~50K SF in Goleta will mean a lot of large (and very cool) tech spaces are coming to the market. This includes ~33K SF on Chapala, and ~50K SF on Mason St.

  • Invoca gave up ~28K SF of office space at 419 State Street which was then subleased by Umbra Lab, a local microsatellite company (photo at right)

  • Zoom gave up their ~8K square feet SB HQ at 420 E Carrillo Street that was backfilled quickly by a publicly traded company from Canada.

  • Despite office being a a difficult sector generally (at least at the moment), there are still deals happening for plug & play spaces!

Fun Fact

Did you know that tonight (Wednesday) is a Super Blue Moon? It will be one of the brightest and largest of the year.
