Research Insights: Empowering Women's Health

Weight gain during menopause is multifactorial. In the attached article, researchers explore the relationship between vasomotor symptoms (VMS) or also known as hot flashes or night sweats, and weight gain. The researchers found that women with more frequent and intense VMS had more weight gain and an increase in their waist circumference.

"A few of our favorite things:"

Personal Massager-Spellbound

Rachel's pick: With age and menopause the nerves in the clitoris change and women may find that stimulating the clitoris with vibration is the most effective way to reach climax.

The Spellbound Stimulator is a soft, nonporous, medical grade silicone tool that uses quiet, air-wave technology to emulate suction and pulsation. Simultaneously, the other end can be inserted vaginally to stimulate the G-Zone. The angle of the Spellbound adjusts to adapt to your anatomy. Experiment with this tool's 14 modes (7 sucking, 7 vibration) to feel mesmerized from head to toe.

A favorite recipe:

Protein Bars

Jean's pick:

It keeps me fuller longer; but because of the calories, you should only eat a small square

Four Ingredient Protein Bars

1 1/2 cup peanut butter, or allergy-friendly substitute
3/4 cup unsweetened protein powder
1/4 cup pure maple syrup, honey, or agave

1/2 teaspoon salt

(optional to top with melted chocolate chips)
Stir all ingredients together, I use a handheld mixer, and smooth into a 8x8 pan I usually double the recipe which is the size you see in the picture. Optional to cover with melted chocolate.

What we are reading:

"Come As You Are" by Emily Nagoski, PhD

Anna's pick: My well read and loved copy of Come As You Are by Emily Nagoski, Ph D has come out of the drawer again this summer.  I go back to this book frequently. Great information… from understanding how to move through the stress response cycle to understanding responsive desire and all the plays into it, this book is a gem!

Plus it’s pink and has a pretty cover!

Enjoy!
