WORCS MESQUITE

OCTOBER 15-16

WORCS Round 9 October 15-16 Mesquite, AZ. A cool 100 degree weekend set the tone for one of the toughest sand tracks on the circuit. This is always a grueling test for the mind and body of all the riders. 2 hours on this race track definitely shows you who has done their work at home to be prepared for this.

For special ATTENTION:

Our youngest up and coming rider Kayden Lynn (2022 125B champion) raced his YZ125 in the A class and qualified for his first ever pro-am, unfortunately he fell down and got his wrist run over by another bike. It’s pretty gnarly. He is seeing the ortho today and we are sending prayers for a speedy recovery. He is in good spirits and even refuses to take pain meds.

TREVOR STEWART

6TH

PRO

Coming off his crash at the previous race just two weeks earlier, Trevor is still battling some lingering pain. He made some bike changes to get more comfortable with the bike and it paid off for him. Not a podium, but a very solid result. We look forward to the next round in two weeks.

In his words:

"Coming into the weekend I knew I was under the weather due to my crash in Ridgecrest. Still sore , but manageable. We did practice Saturday afternoon after making some bike changes and found good progress, especially at such a tight race course. Sunday race I got a really bad jump and got funneled to the back, worked my way from I believe 9th to 6th, battled with hymas and Lynn for the first hour until ultimately swapping in the sand and losing some energy out of my upper body. The shoulder was sore, ribs were sore, but I feel like it was a positive day for me after the least few painful rounds. Happy and healthy, thank you team ! P-6"

THOMAS DUNN

6TH

PRO 250

Coming off a few podiums during the WORCS season, Thomas was looking to continue the trend. He had some good laps going in the first half of the race and was in contention to settle in to the top 4, but fell and lost to much time. He closed the gap up finishing just 8 second behind 5th at the finish.

In his words:

"Always look forward to the challenge of Mesquite! Got off to a decent start. Made some mistakes the first few laps in the sand but figured it out and started to find a flow. Was pretty close to 4th and went down about half way. My shoulder slipped out and took a second to get it feeling okay. Fell back to 7th, charge hard the rest of the race and finished right behind 5th. The results don’t show how good I was riding and the improvements I’ve made. Going to heal up and charge hard the last few rounds! Thank you team"

JUSTIN SEEDS

7TH

PRO 250

Justin is finally back with us for the rest of the season and was on track for a solid finish in pro 250, but clipped a rock with his foot 8 laps in and could not continue. He finished enough laps to earn the 7th place position.

In his words:

"Race started pretty good running inside the top 5. Got shuffled around a little bit at the beginning and then ended up hitting a rock with my foot causing me to pull off.  Got lucky and had enough laps on to get a 7th place finish still."

CLAY HENGEVELD

10TH

 PRO

Not an easy race to continue getting seat time after injury, but seat time is seat time. Clay is working hard on and off the bike to get back to his old ways. Some early race crashes held him back from the lead pack. None the less, still a solid top 10 result.

In his words:

"I got off to a decent jump on the start. Unfortunately, right as we hit the gap over the hill leading into the sand, I stuffed my front wheel and face planted into the ground. Quickly collected myself and off I went. I was able to make a few passes as the race went on but just wasn’t able to capitalize on all my mistakes throughout the 2 hour race. What matters to me, is that I finished the race and I am healthy. I really want to work hard and figure out some more speed because I feel that’s what I need to be up in the pack with the Top 7 guys. So, we will continue to work hard. Tenth place pro is not ideal for me, it’s frustrating. But want to give a huge thank you to Collin, Kyle, Ron and the WHOLE Purvines Racing crew for the endless amount of support. I wouldn’t be out there without them and I also want to thank our team sponsors and my personal sponsors/ family who help me out as well."
