Gifting, Preservation, & Recognition Opportunity

Recognizing the generous Marc Bohan for Christian Dior boutique donation, from Kai

Marc Bohan for Dior

The Museum received its first-ever gift donation from Kai, from the UK.

We are deeply appreciative of this gesture. The pattern has been digitized and is now part of the Couture Pattern Museum's archives.

“I am more than ever tired of crazy things, I think that is all finished. Clothes must be very simple, feminine and clean looking".

- Marc Bohan -

Unscpecified date: Circa 1960's

We try our best to accurately date all patterns, but some patterns were not printed with a specific publishing date on the cover. We then cross reference the pattern to any counter books or pattern books that we have in our library. If there is no catalog resource, we date the pattern by decade, with reference to the known historical silhouettes of the designer. Based on the best information available, this pattern was likely printed early in his career at Dior, in the early 60's.

Gifting & Preserving Patterns

Do you have a couture pattern you'd like to be part of the museum?

The Couture Pattern Museum is accepting gifts in the form of sewing patterns and related historical materials. There are three ways you can contribute your sewing pattern to the museum:

1. As a gift/donation: Your name and donation will be recognized on the website and across all our social media channels. Please note that donations are not tax deductible.

2. As a digital scan donation: Your pattern will be carefully and professionally scanned, and returned to you. We are very careful with the process but recommend insuring your assets.

3. Selling your pattern to the museum: We are willing to entertain the purchase of your couture patterns, and (after we agree upon a price), we will send a digital payment through PayPal.

If you are interested in contributing to the museum, please contact us with the pattern number, and we will compare it to our archives to see if it would be a great addition to the museum.

Any archival ephemera or historical documents will also be considered for donation, preservation, and research.

Thank you for your support and interest in the museum's mission.

Warm Regards,

Cara Austine
