In brief

  • E€OFISH carries out a comprehensive review of fisheries monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS) in the Eastern Africa, Southern Africa, Indian Ocean (EA-SA-IO) region and developed an MCS balance scorecard. An interim report was presented to the region on the 2nd March 2022 in Nairobi, Kenya. View the report.
  • The 51st meeting of the Regional Coordination Unit (RCU) of the Regional Fisheries Monitoring Plan (PRSP) was held on 28 February, 2022 in Nairobi, Kenya. This meeting was an opportunity to discuss the amendments concerning the administrative arrangements, present the situation of the grant contracts between the PRSP partner countries and the EUD, examine the request from Somalia to. integrate the PRSP mechanism, etc. 
  • The 57th regional fisheries surveillance mission within the PRSP framework was carried out from 18 March 2022 to 12 April 2022. Inspectors from Comoros, France/La Reunion, Seychelles and Tanzania participated in the mission. View pictures

 

LVFO APPROVES AND IMPLEMENTS A NEW FISHERIES MANAGEMENT PLAN AND CAPACITY BUILDING FOR MONITORING, CONTROL AND SURVEILLANCE

E€OFISH provides the region with basic equipment and supplies such as patrol vessels, digital cameras, and binoculars, among others.

THE E€OFISH FAMILY

Meet the Extended Regional Coordination Unit (ERCU) members of the Regional Fisheries Surveillance Plan (PRSP). They  are in charge of political decisions regarding the fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated fishing in the region.

The E€OFISH programme is funded as part of the EU development policy.
