AUSTRALIA DAY LONG WEEKEND CELEBRATION NEWSLETTER

"BRINGING RED BREEDS TOGETHER"

2019 IRDBF CONFERENCE IN AUSTRALIA

Delegate numbers for the main tour are nearly full, and we think that's something to celebrate!

Registrations are due by 1st February 2019.  If you're thinking of joining us please act now to send in your registration forms.

We highlight the fact that there is a shorter three day package based largely around Mount Gambier South Australia which still has plenty of places available.  This package provides a condensed version of farm visits, sightseeing, and most importantly the impressive range of speakers lined up for the official conference days.  Go to the Registration Brochure on the conference website and look for Package 2 - we hope to see you there!

Registrations are due no later than 1st February 2019.

We can receive your requests for registrations after this date but not all package options will necessarily be available, nor at the same price.

EUROPEAN RED DAIRY BREEDS MEETING

The European Red Dairy Breeds Association, which meets annually in the northern hemisphere, has broken with tradition and transferred its next meeting to coincide with our conference.

Time has been allocated for the business aspects of both the International Red Dairy Breeds Federation Board and the European Red Dairy Breeds Association.

Another reason to be part of our great event if you are, or should be, involved with these Board Meetings!

Introducing Youth Scholarship Winner

PHIL STASIW of Mount Gambier, South Australia.

Phil began his career in dairy farming in 2004 at Donovan's Dairy where he completed Certificate 3 in Dairy.  Later he moved to Jan Raleigh's "Blackwood Park" farm at Timboon Victoria, as Farm Manager and hence Sharefarmer.  During this time Phil purchased one-third of the Blackwood Park herd and his admiration of red cattle blossomed from here.

Introducing Youth Scholarship Winner ASHLEY HARRISON of Kilcoy Queensland.

Ashley has worked on the family farm for about eight years and has become part owner.  Following the recent drought, and the subsequent high input costs of grain, Ashley has seen how Australian Reds have managed better on less grain in the hot and humid conditions, and subsequently made the decision to breed 100% of his herd to Australian Reds.

Sign up for a package to hear these fabulous young farmers give their stories at the Photo Competition Night on Wednesday 27th March 2019.

What's in the bag??

Philip Hentschke is going to bring us his unique presentation on Correct Cow Structure using a bag of bones!

Philip has a fascinating background and is/was all of these: a vet, dairy farmer, university lecturer, dairy cattle classifier, dairy cattle judge, and passionate dairy enthusiast.

As a general rule Philip does not use notes for this presentation, guaranteeing that each time he shares his wealth of knowledge with his listeners something new will come forth.  He loves to take questions from the audience and this too customises the presentation.  Philip's presentation will be given at Rydges Pit Lane Hotel, Tailem Bend South Australia on Saturday 23rd March 2019.
