What a fabulous evening at the Kiwifruit 65th naming Anniversary.

A dedicated team from the Te Puke Repertory brought Michael Jones skit alive.

Michael wrote

The Unbelievable story of the Naming of the Kiwifruit.

BY GRAHAM LINEHAM

From the Motion Picture Screenplay by William Rose

By Special Arrangement with Studiocanal

The story follows a group of bungling ne'er-do-wells who hatch a plan to rob a security van at King's Cross station. To maintain the perfect cover, they pose as a travelling string quartet needing rooms at a local boarding house. The unsuspecting landlady, Mrs Wilberforce, low on funds and rich in gossip, happily welcomes them and their unwieldy musical instruments. However, this poses a challenge. While plotting their heist, they inevitably have to demonstrate their musical prowess, leading to hilarious moments of ingenious improvisation. As expected, the best-laid plans of mice and men begin to unravel in a fast-paced masterpiece of chaos and comedy mayhem.

Directors Notes

The set is built, both upstairs and down, and being well used for rehearsals. Trying to fit the cast of five criminals and one dear little old lady and her friends onto half a stage at a time is proving to be a challenge. But it is a wonderful problem to have when dealing with such a keen cast of actors.
