UPAHAAR NEWS Edition 15 - August 2022 |
Artistic Director : Shalini Shivashankar August 15th 2022 To the Upahaar community, friends, and well wishers What a mad rush at the airports earlier this month with everyone scrambling to get away! Airports must have had the busiest time since the pre-pandemic days. |

Its always fascinating to watch the frazzled excitement on the faces of people lining up in airports for summer vacation, trolleys loaded with extra large suitcases and children armed with iPads and headphones. I enjoyed my journey to Delhi and our subsequent performance at Triveni Kala Sangam. I continue soaking in all the sights, sounds and taste that is unique to India… Wishing all Indians all over the world a Happy 75th Indian Independence Day! In three weeks we will resume classes and reopen for a new term and the new academic year. We reopen on Sep 4th. Closer to this date I always experience slight pangs of anxiety only because, I realise, painfully (and yet understandably) that most of our students would not have practised their dance and music for most part of the 5 week break! Therefore this summer I have decided to run refresher classes during the last week of the holiday period on body conditioning, adavus, theory and repertoire by grade (if possible) to ensure that students are somewhat ready for the new term. This, I hope, will also infuse an excitement to plunge headlong into lessons as we reopen. Please watch out for the dates of these online sessions on our website. A heads up that they will be between Aug 29 and Sep 4th. Wishing you all a very relaxed happy rest of the summer holidays soaking in the sun wherever you are and hoping to meet many of you online, in class or in person sooner than later. Lovingly, Shalini Shivashankar Artistic Director & Head Teacher +44 (0)7811823684 upahaarschool@gmail.com www.upahaar.co.uk |
