MAY NEWSLETTER

Time for another catch up - May already

PROUD MOMENT for ED

Due to last months newsletter being pretty full and busy, this is a little bit late especially as the Commonwealth Games are all done!  But we can't let it go unmentioned.  Ed Brown one of our longest serving umpires, was part of the baton relay for the Commonwealth Games.

Ed has been umpiring in Townsville since the mid 90s and is still umpiring now with well and truely over 500 games under his belt.

Printable Calendar

Well here, we are at the beginning of May!

As I have kept you up to date via the Facebook page, this Sunday 6th May, our Association Sponsors Townsville Sharks AFL Masters are hosting their All Finanz Group - Queensland Country Championships. We have been asked to provide Field, Boundary & Goal Umpires for 3 Games that will be played from 1:30pm -4:00pm. Ideally, we would like to have you arrive at the ground at 12:30pm.

This is a great opportunity to showcase and raise our profile in the community.  If you have not done so already please make your availability known via the post on our Facebook page.

Participating in the carnival is an unpaid activity, and gives us the opportunity to thank one of our long-term sponsors as well as the ability to conduct some quality training. The Sharks have always supported our Association financially and it is a partnership that we are proud and humbled by.

The venue is at Neil French Oval at Murray Sporting Complex (Hermit Park Tigers home ground). Please note:  Entry is via Gartrell Drive which is off Bowen Road due to ‘Groovin the Moo’ which is also on this weekend.

On the sponsorship front, we are pleased to announce that Sealink has come on board with free return travel for our umpires officiating over on Magnetic Island.

This Thursday Night is Compulsory night and the menu will be Chilli Con Carne with Nachos, Cheese and Sour Cream. So come hungry !!

Our association sponsors proudly support us as an umpire group. Please if you or anyone you know are in need of a product or service that they supply, keep them in mind and mention that you are part of the AFLTUA. That way they know we are getting their brand out there.

On the social scene as we have got into the swing of the first four rounds, things have been on the quiet.  However, stay tuned. Will be nutting out some further get together’s in the next few weeks.

The bowling was awesome. A great turn out, so we will do that again. Prior to that I am thinking of a get together on a Saturday Night for dinner and a few social drinks.

Keep an eye out on the Facebook page, for updates.

See you round the paddock  KO
