Endeavor: Age of Sail

Welcome to all of our new subscribers!

We are so happy to have you with us.

In the Wild

Since we announced that Burnt Island Games and Grand Gamers Guild would be republishing Endeavor, people have continued to be intrigued by this fantastic game.

A few weekends ago we took a hybrid version of Endeavor to a small local convention where we ran scheduled events. We used the old board, but the new mechanics and Exploits. Even before the convention began the events were sold out. And once the games began, we could see their eyes light up with excitement. Here’s two pictures from the event.

We played with people from across the spectrum; some were familiar with Endeavor and some had never heard of it. All were curious as to what we’d be changing. This is where we got to tell them about the double-sided board for different player counts as well as the Exploits.

Everyone enjoyed their Endeavor experience and expressed excitement for the Kickstarter in January. It is clear that despite being almost a decade old, the Endeavor story and the mechanics used to bring it to life, still resonate.

Exploits

Endeavor tells the story of the Age of Sail (approximately 1571-1862), where greed and power sat in the hearts of European kings. To most it is a familiar history, the repercussions of which still affect our lives today. However, there are many aspects of history that slip through the cracks, and that is where we have chosen to introduce the Exploits.

Exploit #1: Spanish Main

In Endeavor, the Exploits will tell a deeper story about the historical connections, and once the regions open up, will introduce a new element to gameplay. Today we want to tell you about the Exploit we call The Spanish Main. The Spanish Main was a stronghold of resources that stretched from North to South America, with fortifications.

In this second edition of Endeavor, once the shipping lanes of those regions have opened, the Spanish Main exploit opens up, giving players another way to play.

Feel free to click on the images below The Spainsh Main Eploit to take you to BGG so you can thumb them.

The Spanish Main Expoit. The mechanisms/art/graphic design are not considered final.

The Payment, Attack, and Ship icons. The art/graphic design on these tokens are not considered final.

The crests from South America and North America. Art/graphic design on the crests are not considered final.

As we build to the Kickstarter in January, we’ll be introducing the Exploits and the art of Endeavor, slowly. The best part: if you own Endeavor, you can print them out and integrate them right now for a new game experience.

Pretty exciting, don’t you think? If you give it a shot, be sure to let us know.

Don't Forget

Please share this newsletter and ask your friends to sign up at EndeavorGame.com. The more folks on board, the more stretch goals we'll get to during our Kickstarter campaign in January. We’ve little doubt that Endeavor will leave port at anything less than full sail, but the first day is key. This will really help us set the pace for the very best game we can produce for you.

Bon voyage,

Helaina & Marc
