SewGreen in Ithaca, NY is celebrating by thanking all of their customers, donors, funders, volunteers, collaborators, and the entire community for all the support and belief in their mission. Creative Clubs for Everyone! |

Join us at our clubs and get inspired! The Knitting and Crochet Club runs every Friday in October, and November from 3-6 p.m. We also have a Kids' Sewing Club on Saturdays from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in October, and November. So bring your fabric, yarn, projects, and your creative spirit! |

In a week from today on Wednesday, October 11, a sewing team will be coming in to volunteer their time and effort to making DfG Kits. SewGreen will be providing materials such as scrap cotton, flannel and cotton batting as well as workshop space. We encourage members of the SewGreen community to volunteer on this day to help support this amazing organization. International Day for the Girl Child - This will be an all day Sewing event for the "Days for Girls" organization. Days for Girls is dedicated to creating a more free, dignified, and educated world, through providing lasting access to feminine hygiene solutions and health education. |

New Classes Start this Month! |

|
We continue with new classes for October and November! Frame Weaving starts this Monday, then at the end of this month, and going into November we have the Macramé Plant Hanger class. The Flannel Lounge Pants class, and learning how to use the Hairpin Lace Loom are also new starting in November. To sign up for a class, contact us through email, phone call, or in person sometime before the date of the class. |

Create fiber art to hang on your wall, or design a special gift for someone! We've recycled wooden picture frames into weaving looms for our Frame Weaving class. This is also a great way to use up those scrap bits of yarn from other projects! You're welcome to bring in yarn that you already have, or use what we have in Scrappy Land to make your woven fiber art. |

If you don't have enough space for your plants, a macramé plant hanger could be the solution! In this class. you'll learn how to make a Macramé Plant Hanger using our supplies, or you can bring in some of your own materials. We will also have the option of adding beads to create your own personalized design. Make one for yourself or for a friend! |

We have so much flannel here at the shop, so we've decided to offer a Flannel Lounge Pants class! You'll be ready for the cold weather in a pair of these high quality pj/lounge pants. |

International Day for the Girl Child - All day Sewing event for "Days for Girls" Organization. Wednesday, October 11. Zippers Made Easy Need closure? Learn how to sew in zippers. Make them invisible or flaunt them! Come learn how: Friday, October 13, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 2 4 p.m. Prerequisite: Sewing Machine 101 Dress Making Parts 1 & 2 We'll work with you on every aspect of making a dress: from proper fit to best fabric for the look you want. Join us for your next dress-making project, and make yourself a dress you'll want to wear all the time! We've found that it's best to teach this topic over two classes. If you can attend both parts, please do! Part 1 offered Tuesday, October 17 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 4 to 6 p.m. Part 2 offered Tuesday, October 24 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 4 to 6 p.m. Measure Up!/Fit It! Do you have clothing items that almost work, but not quite? Bring them in and we will assist you in getting a good fit by teaching you the art of alteration: Friday, October 20, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 2 to 4 p.m. Do you know how to take your own measurements? A good set of measurements is key to buying clothes in the right size, whether you shop in stores or online. As you learn to make clothing, you’ll need the right measurements to help you select the right pattern. Our professionals will measure you correctly, and you’ll go home with an easy-to-read measurement sheet. Create with Josefina Love working with Josefina? So do we. Come and create something with her! Every Thursday, from 4 to 6 p.m. during the month of October and November except for the 23 - Closed for Thanksgiving. Bring your ideas, join your creativity with hers, and make something new! Costume Workshop Whether you want to dress up yourself or someone else for Halloween, or you want a costume for another event, this is the class for you. Ages 10 & up; adults are welcome! Every Saturday in October 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sewing Machine 101/201 We are offering our most popular class once more in October: October 3, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 4 to 6 p.m. Bring your own sewing machine, or learn on one of ours. Begin at the beginning, or build on skills you already possess. Either way, this is the class that will open possibilities for you and your sewing machine! Frame Weaving with Joanna Woven wall hangings are popular again! Learn how weave and create a unique fiber art piece with frame weaving. Offered over three Mondays, October 9, 16, and 23 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 4 to 6 p.m. Working with Dress Patterns You've bought a sewing pattern for a dress, and opened the package. What's with all the tissue paper inside? Sewing Machine Classes at Central Library Wednesday, October 25, and Monday, November 13. Learn how to sew! Serger 101 Sergers can be a little intimidating but they are great sewing tools once you understand how to use and adjust them to suit your project: Friday, October 27, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 2 to 4 p.m. Bring your serger, or sit down at the shop sergers, and learn the basics of threading and tension. Bring your serger's manual and all its feet, too! Macramé Plant Hanger with Joanna Have a plant that doesn't have a proper spot at home? Or know of someone who could use a plant hanger? Even if you don't know how to macramé, this project will give you the skills you need to start! Offered three Mondays, October 30, November 6 and 13 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 4 to 6 p.m. Working with Dress Forms Learn how padding a dress form can help you put together outfits and understand the fit of your clothing. Professional measurements will be included. October 31, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Flannel Lounge Pants Part 1 & 2 Get cozy and warm with flannel this season! We’ll show you how to make a pair of high quality pj/lounge pants. The flannel is included in the price of class. Suitable for any faith, stringed beads make excellent tools for centering and meditative practices. Hairpin Lace Loom with Joanna Learn how to use the hairpin lace loom with Joanna! This was said to be invented in the 16th century by Catherine of Aragon. You’ll see how to use yarn or crochet cotton to make strips of this lace as well as how to piece them together. Remember... Every Saturday is Scrappy Saturday! Our small scrappy bags stuffed with scraps and rolls of fabric and/or unmarked balls of yarn are only $1 all day (regularly $3 on weekdays). Bring your own grocery-sized tote and stuff it full for only $5 (regularly $10). Stop by and fill a bag this Saturday, and every Saturday! |
