Aces and Places.....September Newsletter

Board Developments:

  • We have been unsuccessful in obtaining a grant to resurface the 3 hardcourts in front of the clubhouse. We have reapplied for a grant and will hopefully be able to get this much needed work done during January. We have the support of the South Perth Council and are now waiting on the Department of Sport and Recreation.
  • We are in the process of installing an electronic court booking system - this will help us make the premises more secure, cut down on people using the courts without paying and provide an avenue to market to local tennis players.
  • We have suffered (yet another...) break-in...this time our lawnmowers etc were stolen...we have suffered a number of break-ins this year and are looking to make th epremises more secure....
  • The asbestos in the Captains Room has been replaced by the South Perth Council

Life Membership

At the May AGM, Ken McIntosh was awarded Life Membership of the Club.  Ken has been a tireless worker for the club over many years with stints as Men's Captain, President and has also been instrumental in the holding of the junior tournament over many years.  This tournament is a key fundraiser for the Club.

Not content with working for the Club, Ken has also made a significant contribution to tennis generally in WA serving on various Tenniswest committees.

Ken has suffered a few injuries of late but is looking forward to tormenting members again soon with his slice and spin....
