Updates From Your Friends at the North Dakota Skateboarding Association

THANK YOU From the Bottom of Our Bleeding Hearts!

You Helped Us Raise $44K

On Giving Hearts Day!

Welcome to the Monthly Stoke Newsletter! Thanks for being a part of the ND Skateboarding Association community.

Speaking of which: our community, from near and far, stepped it up this Giving Hearts Day and helped us raise $44,000! We are so much closer to our goal of $100,000 to open an indoor skate park in Fargo, which would be the only indoor skate park in North Dakota. Combined with our reserves from last year’s Giving Hearts Day, we are at an incredible 75% of our goal — because of YOU.

“But wait, I thought we already have an indoor skate park?” Technically, yes. However, due to capacity it is a private skate park that opens periodically to the public. Check out open skate dates here! Our plan is to open a fully public, staffed indoor skate park for everyone to access with expanded hours.

Since last year we have been busy building the skateboarding community and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate. What have we been up to? Well, since 2023, we have:

  • Secured skateboards and pads for skaters (especially kids) without proper gear to skateboard safely

  • Upgraded ramps that significantly improved safety and can now be used for years to come, both indoors and outside

  • Made improvements to the Hawks Nest, the indoor skate park, that allowed for expanding access to the park including adding Women's/LGBTQ and Youth skate nights

  • Partnered with Folkways to set up skateboarding demos and competitions in downtown Fargo for the Night Bazaar, allowing us to have greater exposure and reach into the community. We had over 30 skaters of all ages and abilities and hundreds of spectators.

  • We launched a website! Check out ways to get involved, youth and women skate nights, and more.

  • We did all the legal stuff to make sure our trucks and bearings are in line.

Blank Skate Project

Open The Skate Park!

Our biggest goal is to complete our goal and open the indoor skate park in 2024. That means we still need to raise $30,000. If you want to volunteer, or if you have grant opportunities or corporate sponsorships, reach out! We’d love to talk. Do you feel like donating right now? Tap here.

Blank Skate Project

Every year we invite local artists to design a blank skateboard and host an art opening for them to showcase their work. The boards are auctioned off and all proceeds go to the North Dakota Skateboarding Association and our mission to give everyone the chance to skateboard and find community.

Date to be announced soon! (May or June. Keep an eye on
our website.) In the meantime, want to design a board? Or, know a local artist? Email us at fargohawksnest@gmail.com to sign up! Boards are going fast.

Don't Be a Stranger

Skateboarding may seem like a solo sport, but it’s really nothing without the community. We hope you’ll check out a skate night at the Hawks Nest and follow us on social media by clicking the links below. We’ll see you at the top of the ramp!

Keep Pushing!

Sincerely, NDSA Board
