Change is Afoot

Blessing the Boats

may the tide
that is entering even now
the lip of our understanding
carry you out
beyond the face of fear
may you kiss
the wind then turn from it
certain that it will
love your back may you
open your eyes to water
water waving forever
and may you in your innocence
sail through this to that

~ Lucille Clifton

Change can be terrifying, exciting, rewarding, exhausting, thrilling, fulfilling....

and we are feeling all of it!

gratitude for the reminders

(of how pursuing our dream made a difference and was actually so much bigger than we could have imagined)

sad to be changing the shape of that community

(though not really saying goodbye)

scared of the unknown

(sometimes the what ifs can rear their ugly heads)

excited for what's to come!

(so fueled by this passion to help others realize their potential)

Staying EPIC,

Julie & Nicole

Invoking Reinvention

Reinvention can be a powerful catalyst for growth and helping you reach your happiest and most fulfilled self.

How do you know if you need or want to make a change?

Well...if you do the steps and find you're exactly where you want to be, then YAY...what a gift.

Or, maybe you just need some small tweaks.

Or, MAYBE this is the first day of an exciting journey!

Reinvention and adapting to change (change in ourselves, our environment, our business, the community...) is something we have gotten pretty good at over the past 9 years. ;-)

It can be hard work. It can be exhilarating. It can be gut wrenching.

And it takes vulnerability and gumption to make it work.

These are tools that have helped us.

Wishing you a life of purpose and fulfillment,

Nicole and Julie

5 EPIC Steps for REINVENTING Yourself

  1. Go IN - and Go DEEEP....You have to do the hard work.

REFLECT on; your values, passions, what really matters to you, what brings you the greatest joy, and what makes you tick.

    HOW?

Clear space. Get curious. Make it a priority. Meditate. Journal. Talk to your inner circle and see things through others eyes.

    But ultimately, trust your gut.

BROADEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE and open doors.

    Try stuff!

Take a class, learn a new language or instrument, read, podcast, soak it up so you can see what resonates and aligns with who you are or want to be.

Be curious, playful, vulnerable, and diligent in your search.

  1. EMBRACE the discoveries and let go of what's not serving you.

Feel when and how you are your truest most authentic self. Find your inner 'plumb line' and notice where things line up. (and where they don't)

Once you've identified and aligned with your true values, passions, and purpose, sometimes that means you have to let go of the things that are not serving you.

As you shed old identities, old habits, even relationships or careers, you will need a lot of inner strength and resilience.

In order to embrace your authentic self, you have to tap into a sense of inner wisdom and clarity. This authentic expression of who you are can lead to a profound sense of fulfillment and even enlightenment....so, own that shit!

  2. Make a PLAN

This won't likely happen over night, so find a way to bridge the gap and make a plan.

Set CLEAR GOALS and create a VISION.

Set both short-term and long-term objectives that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART).

Create a vision board or write down your vision to visually represent the life you desire to keep you focused on your path.

Identify the obstacles that might get in the way... Where you might find resistance... How or with whom.... Then find a solution before it even becomes a problem.

Track your progress. Celebrate the wins. Be curious about the set backs. And find anchors to keep you focused on your ultimate goal.

You can DO THIS.

  1. Gather the troops

Get SUPPORT and find your cheerleaders!

Surround yourself with friends and family that want the best for you...no matter what.

Seek out a supportive community of like-minded individuals who uplift and inspire you.

It's also important to identify the people in your life that make you feel like you can't be your full self around them, that push their agenda, that focus more on blame or shoulds than curiosity and progress.

Surrounding yourself with positive, encouraging, and like-minded individuals can provide valuable insights, motivation, and accountability as you navigate your reinvention journey.

  1. Have COURAGE and take the LEAP

    BREAK your limiting beliefs.

Shed old, limiting beliefs and open yourself up to new possibilities.

Bring awareness to specific thoughts that come up, that hold you back, or make you feel unworthy or inadequate in certain situations.

Once you recognize the belief, question its validity.

Ask yourself if there is evidence to support it or if it's simply a self-imposed limitation.

Reframe the negative thought and replace it with positive and empowering ones. (this is where a personal MANTRA is great!)

    STEP OUTSIDE your comfort zone.

Embrace new experiences, take calculated risks, and challenge yourself to try things you've never done before.

Be uncomfortable, challenge yourself, and trust yourself!

    YOUR possibilities are ENDLESS.

By embarking on a journey of self-reinvention, you open doors to self-discovery, adaptability, and resilience. It can empower you to stay relevant, embrace innovation, and navigate transitions with grace.

This will take a balance of patience and kindness as well as tenacity and fortitude.

Treat yourself as you would want someone to treat the 3 year old version of you, with compassion and motherly love.

At the same time... fight for it like a fierce warrior protecting its most valued treasure.

Happy Journey!
