The Eve Dangerfield Newsletter

January 2022

Let's go!

Hey Dangerfiends!

New year, same me, which is fine because I like myself. I have good eyebrows. Although I also have covid which has been a very... interesting way to start 2022.

I'm feeling much better now and I managed to write all through my bout with the spicy cough,

which was a relief because I love Willow and Eden and I desperately want to tell you their story! They meet backstage at one of Eden's gigs (she's an upcoming trance DJ) and Willow (professional footballer, Scotsman and charm factory) has been obsessed with her for months. She's like 'ya hot but I don't want a boyfriend' and Willow, lover man that he is, offers her a fake celebrity relationship to help her boost her career. And he's secretly hoping she falls for him of course. Early estimates are for F&F to be released in April, although Charlie and I are just wrapping on the cover and it is PERFECT. (Hint: it includes Kilts and my favourite colour) Follow me on Insta for early updates!

Also I have another project coming on leaps and bounds. I can't say much now, but if you like my books and have ever wished I'd write in first person you might be in for a mid-2022 treat...

I have never and will never watch Black Mirror bc I'm a pussy but this song came up on my discover weekly and I like it a bunch

Forbidden Romace...

I've joined an amazing newsletter collab in which y'all get access to amazing free books for absolutely nothing. This month's free read is THE DOCTOR by Nikki Sloan (which I am also reading rn). You can get ahold of it right HERE

I had the hilarious meme queen @romantically_Inclinded on How Novel! podcast We talked Ice Barbarians and romance tropes and laughed a lot. It's also the most downloaded episode I've ever made which is cool as all hell. Check it out HERE

I was on the Make Out Already Podcast and honestly had the most fun doing a Top 5 weird crush analysis with Liz and Meg (who are angels btw). listen away HERE

Things I like right now

1. Meditation. I have a complicated relationship with the big M. I've done it on and off since I was 19 but it's really feast or famine-I try to do it for an hour every day perfectly then I get overwhelmed and stop (which will be shocking news to people who love/know me, I'm sure) right now I'm using the Insight app to do 15-20 minute guided meditations and if I miss a day I just say 'oh well' and start again the next day. Did you guys know you can do that? Did you know it's possible?

2. Skyrim. Every few years I play the entire game through. It takes months and by the end, I'm so powerful I can kill a dragon with a single arrow and the gameplay becomes incredibly boring. This makes me happy.

3. Soup. It's high summer here, and all day you remain sweaty as actual hell so what better time to get into vegetable soup! I kid, not about the soup but there's a good reason for the soup-I got a crazy good blender for Christmas from my mem and being able to make velvety kate and pumpkin or tomato and fennel soup has been utterly delightful. I really struggle to eat vegetables and it's just a really good way of forcing yourself to chow down on greens tbh.

I find Drew Gooden incredibly funny and insightful and this video on The D'amelio sisters diverted into a really touching conversation around internet fame and mental health

Books of December!

Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman. Far lovelier than I thought it would be. I'm getting ready for a re-read because I feel like some of the concepts went over my head at the time and I'd like them to sink in. As a control freak (see the thing about meditating) I really want 2022 to be my year of embracing imperfection. And not in a cute way. Real imperfection.

The Sober Girl Society Handbook by Millie Gooch. A good beginner sobriety book. I like Millie Gooch's charm and vibe very much but I didn't get a lot out of this. The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober is the real gold standard in this genre and I couldn't help but compare that book to this one and find it a bit lacking.

Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl. So moving and powerful.

First comes Blood by Lillith Vince.

Bohemian by Katheryn Nolan

How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnigie

The Virgin Hunt Games by Mel Teshco

Thanks for reading! Hit me up any time on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, I love talking to readers and in general.

Fun Fact: At the recommendation of a fan I've just started watching Ted Lasso and HOLY SHIT Derek reminds me so much of Roy Kent it isn't funny. I'm glad I didn't watch prior to writing or I'd have had to straight-up call it 'Roy Kent fanfiction.' I love Roy Kent is what I'm saying. That voice...
