Blind Sports Day was a huge success!  13 youth and 16 adults participated in tandem cycling, and 13 youth and 13 adults participated in guided running/walking--wow!! For some this was a first-time experience; for others, it wasn't; but for all it was pure joy, smiles, sports, and beautiful weather! Many thanks to Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation and Metrolina Association for the Blind for partnering on this incredible day.

Join us for our final live virtual event of the year in partnership with OrthoCarolina in November!  We will focus on mind/visualization and rest/recovery.  Everyone is welcome, stay tuned for a link to RSVP!

The Crowell Century!

Jamie Crowell is an avid blind cyclist and will be riding her first Century Ride on November 7th -- a Century Ride is one hundred miles, by the way!  Jamie will be riding 100 miles to fund raise and to raise awareness for Para Guide and all of the blind athletes that we support. If you would like to donate to Jamie's fundraiser, click the button below or go to www.paraguide.org.

Partner News

Check out this cool Charlotte Is Creative "Partnership Pairing" which matches organizations sponsored by OrthoCarolina with local creatives--in this case, Para Guide and poet Jay Ward. The result was a 1-minute poem entitled "Together".  The link to the article which includes the poem as well as some Q&A is below.

Coach Corner

Tip of the day from USAT Level 1 Triathlon Coach Paul:

"As the seasons change, make sure to check your equipment and gear for maintenance or replacement. How many miles are on your shoes and bike cleats? Do you need to swap out the tubes and tires on your bike? Is it time for a new pair of goggles? Preventative maintenance is better than equipment failure!"

Image description:  Paul is smiling in front of a brick wall; he is wearing a black USAT Certified Coach golf shirt that also says Para Guide and a blue Para Guide hat.
