August Newsletter

We would like to start out by saying thank you..and we mean, a MASSIVE THANK YOU...to two of our most tireless volunteers, Evelyn and Damory. These two ladies are always working behind the scenes, and often in the front line as well.

What would we ever do without you?!

Morningstar

Now adopted!

This is Morningstar. She came to us a few years ago in need of help. She was quite close to being mostly skin and bones, very malnourished and ill. She came with another pony mare named Twilight. Both girls had been purchased from a kill lot. New owners quickly realized they did not have the time and finances these ponies needed, which is why Morningstar & Twilight were yet again in need of a safe place to call home.

Over time, and several vet visits later, Morningstar flourished. Also turned out, she was close to her 30's, but you'd never know with the amount of sass she now has! She is such a lively little girl, and so sweet and kind. She has been a favorite of many. She also participated in our 4-H Program, and and taught the 4-H girls many good things about horsemanship.

Morningstar's best friend, Twilight, was also adopted, and is now living a happy life as a companion pony not far from Ray of Light!

Do you remember Fancy Pants?

She had emergency surgery in 2017 due to a variety of things that was happening to her, all because of her poor teeth.

Fancy's teeth were loosening, and she was not able to grind food properly. She had a big ball of hay in her stomach that couldn't move through, and it took 3 weeks in the hospital for it to dissolve. Believe it or not, they used Coca Cola to help the hay ball disintegrate.

Since she came back home, she's been on a special slow-feed diet. She gets her food through a roller with holes. This keeps her well entertained, as well as slowly fed, which keeps her stomach happy.

Fancy is now fat and happy. But one by one, her teeth will continue loosening. The vet just removed 5 more, but says she'll continue to do fine the way she's being cared for. And there is nothing we can do to help with her teeth. This is just natural wear & tear for her.

We love Fancy so much, and know many of you do too! Please keep good thoughts coming her way!

If you would like to help with Fancy's medical bills, and cost of medication that she will be on for the rest of her life, you can do so via PayPal.
