It is finally February. I don’t know about you but for me this has been one long month. I attended two celebration of life’s this month. We lost our beloved Legion Historian Debbie Sicard who was a dual member and very active within the Legion. We have a sister of the Auxiliary that lost her husband, tragically. Add on I am dieting! 😊 So, I am excited for February.
February starts a very busy season for us. We are putting together a nomination committee for new officers. If you would like to be on this committee, please let me know. There are 3 – 4 positions. You find people for the open positions for our next Exec committee and officers. In April, making sure we have printed ballots, counting ballots etc.
There are two key positions that we are looking for. 1st our wonderful Treasurer is ready for a break. Connie has done an excellent job for 5 years. We would love to keep her around of course. This person should be computer literate, Quick books experience or accounting experience would be nice but not necessary. Connie will help you with the transition.
The second position is our 2nd Vice President, Membership Chair. This person MUST be computer savvy, be willing to dedicate quite a bit of time to this process and if you are organized this really helps. This position is the bases of our organization. You interact with people, help them with their application process. We will get you training with Department so you can understand what is expected. There will be opportunities for membership promotion. I would say this is the face of the organization, more so than any other position. Also, we would recommend you attend Department convention in Oro Valley because there is lots of membership information presented at that meeting in June. We do help with the expenses if you attend all the meetings. This is really a BIG job. We will have a second person willing to assist you.
Other positions election process include:
President, 1st VP, (2nd VP and Treasurer), Chaplain, Sgt. at arms, 4 executive committee positions. We meet 2nd and 3rd Tuesdays at 6 PM every month.
All positions will oversee a committee. But everyone helps and is willing to work together. We have fun, make new relationships and serve or Veterans, first and foremost.
Elections will be held at our April meeting. You will be able to nominate from the floor in March and April. So be sure to attend all the meetings to stay up to date.
Please email us at unit62ala@gmail.com if you are interested in any positions or just have questions.
