Take the Totally Cool Winter Reading Challenge! |
It's back! Shake off the winter chills while improving family literacy and encouraging good reading habits during the winter months. The library’s fourth annual "Totally Cool Winter Reading Challenge" runs from December 13 through January 31, and all ages are welcome to participate. Register at any YCL branch, the Bookmobile, or online: Just create or log in to your Beanstack account at yclibrary.beanstack.org and keep track of the time you read or listen to an audiobook. Once you've logged 5 hours of reading, stop by any YCL location by January 31 to pick up a prize, while supplies last. For every 5 hours logged, readers will be entered to win a Totally Cool Grand Prize. The more you read, the more chances you have to win! As an added bonus when you sign up, you'll be entered in a special community program offered through Zoobean and Lerner Publishing Group. To celebrate the new year, we challenge York County to read 2 million minutes from December 13 through January 31. Participating schools and libraries who meet their goals will be eligible to win books and author visits from Lerner Publishing. So, beat those winter doldrums by reading and helping us meet our goal. It’s easy! Sign up at yclibrary.org/wrc or at your local library, and follow the challenge via #WinterRead2022 on social media! |

YCL Food Drive: Donate non-perishable food and canned goods to your local YCL location from December 1–31. Donations will benefit local area charities within the community they are donated. And don't forget our furry friends — we'll also be collecting pet food donations! Mitten Trees: Contribute new gloves, hats, scarves, and mittens at participating YCL locations through December 31 to send to York County shelters for those in need. You can also knit a winter item for yourself or a friend and donate it to the Rock Hill branch's Mitten Tree! |
