Member spotlight: Paula Antonini

Paula Antonini’s mother died at the age of 55 from a stroke, and her mom had also died of a stroke. So, she set out trying to figure out how not to do that!

“After I retired from the corporate world at 64, I went to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York to learn the real deal about food and health. From there I became a Certified Health Coach in 2008. In 2014 I discovered essential oils and realized they were a good fit with my philosophy of eating real food and using natural solutions. So, I've been educating people about living a healthy lifestyle through food and oils for 5 1/2 years now,” Paula said.

President’s Message

This week I watched the news coverage of the damage and destruction in the aftermath of the tornadoes that ripped through Nashville and the surrounding areas. I pray everyone is able to rebuild. My sister’s family was affected by a tornado in the 1970's and I know first hand how hard it is to rebuild and live with the loss. The Diocese of Nashville is assessing damage at several churches in the path of the storm including, the historic Assumption Catholic Church in the Germantown area. However, the loss of life in our community is the greatest devastation. I hope this prayer below can help in some small way. And my message for this newsletter is simple: PRAY FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY THE TORNADOES. If you would like a way to help tornado victims, the Diocese is directing donations to Catholic Charities at: https://dioceseofnashville.com/tornadorelief.

This is a prayer from the Notre Dame Alumni Association:

Prayer in the Aftermath of Tornado
Loving God, be with all those who are suffering in the aftermath of this violent weather, particularly those in the Nashville community. Grant peace to those who have died and comfort and strength to those who grieve them. May those who have suffered damages or lost homes and possessions find support in our brothers and sisters in Christ and consolation in the knowledge of your presence. Guard and guide first responders and aid workers, protect those who are most vulnerable, and keep us all safe in your love.

We ask this through your son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who even the winds and the sea obey. Amen.

Blessings

Teri Gordon, NCBWL President

The NCBWL scholarship recipient from SCA Naomi Mejia sent us the following note:

Good Afternoon! Thank y'all so much for the scholarship, I don't think I could've attended SCA without y'alls help. I hope you all know how much I appreciate it! I'm really excited for this year. I'm in Model UN and Art Club (maybe more). I'm planning on trying out for lacrosse, if all goes well. This year will be me experimenting. I can't thank you all enough for making this possible for me and the other selected students.
