Keeping Up with ICB

2nd ICB Cohort (February - July 2021) Completed!

We have completed our second cohort of the ICB program with thanks to the participation and contribution from two of our member organizations - BEHub of The Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention and The Academy for Sustainable Communities (The Academy) of the Centre for Civil Society and Governance (CCSG) at HKU.

In this past cohort, we are grateful for the opportunity to interact with a total of 10 incubating projects from these two intermediaries. We are also pleased that the ICB program was enriched with the additional support from Impact Analytics where we together built Theory of Change and captured social impact with our workshop participants. We look forward to the future workshops to come as we will continue engaging more meaningful projects and professional bodies in the ICB program.

3rd ICB Cohort (August 2021 - January 2022) Full Steam Ahead!

Since August, we have been going full steam ahead in ICB cohort 3 where we actively engage our intermediary members: The Hong Kong General Chamber of Social Enterprises (GCSE), CUHK’s Alumni Charity Foundation (ACF), and Gravity Capital Partners.

Preparation meetings with impact intermediary members

In the process of working closely with these impact intermediaries, we were also able to connect with the social purpose organizations/programs that they support. With the support of the impact intermediaries, we organized multiple series of workshops for their organizations/programs. Through the workshops, we have built up the essential digital literacy and IMM knowledge for our participants as well as equipped them with the necessary tools (both online and offline) to implement IMM.

Agile Technology Development Milestones

Thanks to our technology partner ixo, we have made some significant advancements and reached some major development milestones. Here we share with you some highlights of our achievements and updates:

1) Onboarded a total of 72 intermediaries and projects on IDCC platform as of Q3 2022, embarking their digital transformation journey to harness the power of impact data with the aid of technology

2) Co-created with intermediaries and projects their impact profiles which consist of Theory of Change, metrics templates, and data visuals, enhancing their effectiveness and efficiency in impact communication and IMM implementation

3) Continued creating digitized metrics templates (for output/outcome measurement) in the IDCC library, enabling knowledge sharing and crowdsourcing

Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) Workshop Continues!

Riding on the success of previous IMM workshops, IDCC is engaging more and more organizations in the impact sector in Hong Kong. Through a collaborative effort, we collectively increase our capacity in IMM. Check out some workshops below:

In collaboration with PolyU Jockey Club “Operation SoInno”, IDCC organized a workshop in June where we engaged with three “silver age” social startups initiated by some senior members of our society. With abundant life experiences and empathy for their silver age peers, these startups are on a mission to tackle some of the major problems faced by the aging population in Hong Kong.

We are proud to be a continuous supporter of our intermediary member Good Seed in its well-established incubation program. In November, we led an online workshop on IMM for more than 50 Good Seed program participants. Seen in the photo above, during the workshop we had fun to interact virtually with the participants, guiding them in creating their projects’ Theory of Change.

Community of Practice in IMM

IDCC is grateful to have contributed to a new initiative in the impact space called "Community of Practice in IMM" along with several partners - Social Enterprise Academy, Impact Analytics, and Garage Society. Together with different stakeholders in the impact sector in Hong Kong, we are co-creating our own shared practice of IMM in a safe, open and fun environment. We welcome you to join the linkedin group IMM COP and stay connected.

Look forward to 2022

ICB Program

We will be wrapping up ICB’s cohort 3 early next year and will move on to kickstarting cohort 4 in February 2022, which will last until July). As we get cohort 4 on track, we will be going back to our cohort 1 to 3 intermediaries with all the updates and upgrades. Under this agile development process, intermediaries from previous cohorts will be able to further advance in their digital transformation journey.

Technology Development

Through our past engagement with our intermediaries and their social purpose organizations/programs, we have collected many insightful inputs, specific needs, and unique use cases for our IDCC platform. In the coming year, we will focus on technology development where we will be upgrading our existing software and creating new digital tools so that the IDCC platform will further enable our users to carry out their work on IMM effectively and efficiently.

Community Engagement

IDCC values our partners’ support throughout this incredible on-going journey. To build a stronger impact community and foster more collaborative opportunities, we will be planning some events for the community to get together such as the Round Table Meeting we have planned for next year where we discuss data governance and community building.

A Big Thank You to our Partners!!

Last but not least, we are grateful to have continuous support from our dearest partners throughout this journey and would like to give a huge THANK YOU to all our intermediary partners, without which IDCC would never reach such success.

A special thanks goes to our technology partner – ixo who has been instrumental in our co-creation of a social services civic data infrastructure bespoke to Hong Kong’s ecosystem using the basic principles offered by the ixo blockchain protocol.
