Good morning, Happy Monday, + Happy Veteran's Day!

Author's Note:

I hope you are all enjoying your morning off! Who's drinking coffee? Tea? Hot water with lemon? I always prefer coffee in the morning. There's a certain coziness that coffee brings, and it's a necessary coziness for the AM. I am currently sipping on the Nitro Cold Brew from Starbucks (w/extra ice + sweet cream) and it is SO good. Plus, I can't get enough of the Christmas themed cups!

Anyway, you are reading issue #1 of Your Morning Muse, the Of Page + Pen official weekly newsletter where you will find mini servings of biblical encouragement, my current faves, recipes, and more. I am a huge fan of newsletters because of the anticipation they bring. For me, it's the same feeling as waiting for a package or a gift from a friend, so, I figured, why not grant my readers (when I say "readers," I'm really talking about my parents and my sister--reminders that keep me humble) with a gift that keeps on giving? I want this newsletter to feel like that warm cup of whatever you're drinking.

Meditate on These Things:

Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression,
But a good word makes it glad.

The righteous should choose his friends carefully,
For the way of the wicked leads them astray.

The lazy man does not roast what he took in hunting,
But diligence is man’s precious possession.

In the way of righteousness is life,
And in its pathway there is no death.

Proverbs 12:25-28

Current Fave:

I am always looking for new podcasts to listen to, and when I found "Talk It Out" by Joyce Meyer, I was so excited! I knew I was in for some hearty, convicting, and comforting truth's. This podcast includes Joyce and her friends Jai Williams, Ginger Stache, and Erin Cluely, who simply sit and, well, talk it out. With subjects ranging from confidence and marriage to friendship and habits, this is a podcast worth listening to, especially because these women aren't afraid to get real.

Get to Eatin':

I love breakfast. So. Much. So, I chose to share a very delicious, yet simple, breakfast dish. You can call it whatever you want, but I call it an "Egg Bagel." Absolutely no creativity went into the name, but it's just as simple as the recipe, so I guess that's what matters. You'll need the following:

Everything Bagel

1 Egg

2 pieces of Bacon

Mexican Style Cheese

Butter

Pepper

1/2 of an Avocado

Directions: Cook the bacon first. Fry up 2 pieces and cut each in half when done. They fit on the bagel perfectly that way. Once the bacon is done, set them aside on a plate and put the bagels (cut the bagel in 2, obvs) in the toaster and start cooking the egg. I usually make a fried egg white--less mess when you eat it and, again, it fits perfectly. When the bagels are toasted take them out immediately and butter both buns then sprinkle Mexican Style cheese on one bun (or both, whatever you want), and let it melt while the egg is still cooking (let it get a little burned). When the egg is done, place it on top of the cheese, add 1/2 of the avocado (spread it!) and then the bacon. Top it with some pepper then place the other bagel half on top and BAM, you've got an Egg Bagel.

Thank you for reading, and be sure to look out for my next post about the importance of Christian friendships.
