Hello, Art and Design Friends!I recently flew home to Durango after visiting family back home in Ohio… two homes from two different times of my life. Each is unique, precious, and appreciated. What makes a home? A recognizable cricket song outside a bedroom window? Sipping coffee from a favorite mug? The sound of a laugh that was an integral part of your childhood? Favorite meals? A familiar hug? Looking upon a favorite painting whose scene seems etched into the room? Art is an item that can make a house a home. A favorite collector of mine recently purchased a second painting for her new Durango residence, which immediately felt more like home once she hung it on her newly painted wall. The familiar colors and brushstrokes imbued a sense of peace, comfort, and levity. Art can do that… beautifully. What's an essential part of your home? P.S. If your inbox is maxed out, you're always welcome to unsubscribe at the bottom of the page. Thank you! |

Incoming Storm Haven't the Durango rains been extraordinary lately?? There's nothing better than listening to a storm roll in while sipping tea in the comfort of your home. I LOVE the sound of rain and the energy of thunder storms as they wash the town clean with a burst of energy and fresh aromas... this painting captures this feeling for me. This piece is currently displayed in the Newman Building window on the west side of 8th Street and Main Avenue in Durango, advertising the Durango Open Studio Tour. |

Green Chile Stew Fall has nearly arrived in Southwest Colorado, and the heavenly aroma of roasting green chiles fills the air. Mmmmmmm... it smells like home. It's time for green chile stew!
Run to your local farmers market or grocery store chile roaster to stock up on some green chile for the year. Before you freeze it all, be sure to set aside a few chiles for this simple, comforting stew.
This is a versatile recipe -- use your favorite ground meat, stock, and quantities to make it perfectly your own. Enjoy! | | |
