Power of JOy is pleased to kick off our first monthly newsletter to get you up to speed on what we’ve been working on! A lot has happened in the 10 months since our beloved Joann left us. Her vision for spreading joy has been carried forward, and we are pleased to share our progress with you. With the help of a small but mighty group of volunteers, we have enough momentum going to be able to share with you! OUR VISION To increase joy in all people’s lives. OUR MISSIONTo create opportunity for giving and receiving joy: - Outreach to those experiencing hardship - Education of Joy-concepts and joy- practices - Connection through common obstacles to Joy and common avenues to Joy OUR OUTREACH We’ve hosted 4 classes, with nearly 40 attending, to introduce folks in our community to the concepts found in The Book of Joy, Lasting Happiness in a Changing World. This book was inspirational to Jo and provides a strong framework for activities that we offer. You’ll see some of these offerings highlighted below. In addition, we have partnered with POJ Kids to offer activities to inner city children based on the 8 pillars of joy (as described in 'The Book of Joy.') |

We invite folks who have experienced loss to join us for an easy walk in the woods and an opportunity to share. There are also opportunities for social time. This group has been active for a couple of months and continues to grow! Here's what one of our hikers had to say: “Spending time in the woods while meeting and getting to know other people who can understand the difficulty of losing my partner has been so wonderful. We hike and talk and laugh. There is no pressure to share but share if I want to.” Loss of a partner: Sunday, November 13th, 10am - 11am at Hollbrook Hollows in Bainbridge Questions or RSVP to Ellen Weaver text 440-667-3058 or email eluebbers1@gmail.com Loss of a child: Sunday, November 30th, 10am - 11am at Hollbrook Hollows in Bainbridge RSVP required to this email info@powerofjoy.net |
