Let’s catch up over music and food. Cultural Conversations whanau invite you to an afternoon of Sweet family sounds. The Playhouse is a family run enterprise just outside Mapua. If you haven't been there before then they have the best pizzas as well as a rolling nibbles menu so plenty for everyone.
The idea is for us to connect as a community and listen to some family music. We have Tamsin and Phoebe who are a mother-daughter duo from Motueka, featuring violin, vocals, tin whistle and guitar. They play original and traditional tunes with a Celtic flavour with a hint of world music flare.
Chanel and her Pop will bring the most beautiful waiata and harmonies with them followed by Dave and Elan where a drum kit is involved.
Alyahna Sanson-Rejouis (aka IMANI-J) writes and performs her original songs in Te Reo, English and French will be accompanied by her cousin, Kahu Sanson-Burnett (aka Kahu-SB), an accomplished guitarist, composer and producer, these two are an emerging tour de force on the Nelson music scene.
Dean and Miri will close the event. This duo of Father and daughter bring soulful grooves of covers ranging from John Martyn to Madilyn Bailey and captured the audience at Te Ramaroa performance stage last year.
The event runs from 4-7 p.m. Three hours of live music - what a treat! We hope you will come for an afternoon tea or an early dinner. The Playhouse will really appreciate your support too as they've had their wings clipped due to covid.
Thanks to our musicians who are kindly donating their time to Cultural Conversations. We are asking for a Paper Money entry at the door or you can donate via our website.
