A HUGE shout out to the local businesses that make North Akumal such a warm and welcoming place. Our sponsorship campaign has already generated commitments from six of them while many others are promising to get back to us by the end of the month. The next time you patronize any of these generous businesses, please let them know how much you appreciate their support:

In the meantime, we ARE still planning to host a Zoom presentation to answer any questions or concerns you may have about the project but have decided to wait until we have firm quotes for operations and maintenance as well as for the barrier itself. Until then if you have questions about anything - from the suitability of using boats to plans for storing the barrier in the off season - please visit our website:
FAQ Page on HMB website
Or if you’d like to discuss any issue in greater detail, please reply to this email and one of us will get back to you shortly.
In the meantime, if you have not yet joined the cause, now is the time to do so. We’ve almost met our ambitious fundraising goal. North Akumal is coming together as never before and the more of us that get engaged, the stronger our community will become. Sargassum invasions are only one of the many new challenges North Akumal will be forced to confront in the coming years. We cannot prevent pandemics, reverse climate change or halt the development of new tourism infrastructure but when we act together, as a united community, we are in a much better position to respond effectively to the threats we face.
