With all of the excitement of the return to school, we thought now might be a good opportunity to offer a little update on the CWSA.

Find out what we have been up to, what to expect next and more on how you can continue to get involved in 2021 and beyond...

Fundraising So Far

Despite a difficult 2020, which cut short a lot of our fundraising efforts, we have, so far, raised well over £8,000.  Fundraising efforts have included events, merchandise, matched-funding and online shopping partnerships.  We're looking forward to delivering so much more in 2021 and have some fantastic ideas and initiatives underway as we take advantage of the incredible facilities available to us at the new school.

Events

Between our inception in December 2018 and COVID striking, we managed to squeeze in four face to face events and we're looking to run many more in the coming year.

Advancing Education Support Programme

Fundamentally, it is the mission of the CWSA to advance the education of every child at the school, whether this is through financial support or more directly.  To that end we have developed the following two programmes:

121 Reading Programme

Lockdowns-permitting, CWSA members will attend the school to support individual children to meet or exceed their expected reading levels by offering 121 reading support, listening to the children read aloud.

CWSA Creatives Club

Again, as soon as is feasible, children will be able to take advantage of the CWSA Creatives Club, which is an after-school clubs programme that will offer opportunities that might not usually form part of the curriculum.  We will be kicking off with 6-week clubs in both Songwriting/Rapwriting and Spoken Word/Poetry.  If these pilots are successful we will look to add more clubs throughout the year.

If you have a creative skill that you think might benefit this programme or you would like to help a child with their reading on a weekly basis, please email us.

Giving Back So Far

We believe in raising funds to develop the 'whole child', and so, together with the CWS staff, we agreed that donations will be made to the school to cover these four areas:

1. Rewards & Incentives

2. HRF

3. Musical Productions

4. Outdoor Learning

Masks

Late last year we purchased a mask for every single child and teacher.  Though we did encounter a little blip with the sizing, that has now been resolved.  Should your child wish to have a bigger mask, please ask them to collect one from the office.  If you'd like to purchase additional masks, you can do so here.

Beekeeping

Most recently we have donated just over £2500 to the school to further the school's outdoor learning objectives, by purchasing everything needed to set up, introduce and maintain Beehives.  Launching late Spring/early Summer, the hives will enable students to get involved in maintaining the bee colonies and to make and market products such as CWS honey and beeswax products.

Pre-loved Uniform Programme

Top of the list of priorities this Spring is to launch our Pre-loved Uniform Programme.  We have recently collected all of the unclaimed lost property from the school, and we will be

sending out requests very soon for any items that your child may have outgrown, so that we can add this to the stock that we will look to offer for sale in the Spring term.
