Dear Friends, At first glance, area trees still are green and loaded with leaves. But all of that is about to change. Several factors play into it, but one unchanging part is day length. As the hours of darkness increase, trees will begin to cut off nutrients to the leaves in order to store them for winter survival. Leaves will turn color and drop to the ground where, if they are not bagged up and carried away, they will provide nutrients back to the tree and an establish an ecosystem for a variety of creatures. Look a little closer now and you will see the change already happening. Some leaves have dropped, some are in the process, and some are holding their green a little longer. Spiritually, that might describe most of us. Some of us have already fallen away from the religion we may have known in the past. Others are considering a change. Still others are doing their usual routine but starting to feel something different. Middleway is a place where you can discover you. We are here as a community, experiencing all stages of seasons. Remember that leaves serve a purpose for the life of the tree no matter the stage. And so it is with you. You are important. You give meaning to our wider community. Come grow with us whatever stage you're in. |

| | Brazos Valley Gives - OCT. 15! Four years ago, we took a giant leap of faith and opened the doors to Middleway - a place where peace, comfort and hope are offered for free to spiritual seekers. Now, we: completed our move this month to a less expensive (and more beautiful) location, continue to operate 100 percent by volunteers, offer a variety of specialized programs freely, are open for anyone to pop in to experience peace, comfort and hope on their own.
Our only means of doing this is from the donations of friends and supporters. Brazos Valley Gives provides us with an opportunity to be a part of communitywide charitable giving to continue to operate Middleway. Giving Day is Tuesday - Oct. 15. If everyone who gets this newsletter could give $75, we'd make a year's budget for lease and utilities. If you can give more, all the better to sustain. But even if all you can give is $10, it will add up. Your contributions are what keep us open and available to all. Here's how: The QR Code at the right will take you to the donation page for the monastery. The button below the QR Code will take you the page that gives more information about us. The button below this column is a link to the donation page as well.
THANK YOU! | | |

Enneagram Workshop Nov. 9 In a world full of personality assessments, the Enneagram stands apart for the ways that it not only describes our behavior (and the basis of that behavior) but for the ways it also prescribes practices which can help us live more resourcefully. Kathy and Jim Reiter will present an introductory workshop, Saturday, Nov. 9, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in a manner that offers the Enneagram as tool for spiritual transformation - an enriching step on the journey to resourceful, True Self living. The background of this ancient personality inventory will be explored; a narrative orientation to the nine personality types will be presented; results of an online assessment will be discussed; and a sense of next steps in the journey to True Self will be offered. Enrollment is limited. There will be a small fee for the assessment test. Coffee and tea provided. Bring brown bag lunch for yourself. | | |
