Electricity Warning #2 in two weeks, 25 June to 30 June 2023

Here we go again. ERCOT has declared its second Electricity Weather Warning from Sunday, 25 June to Friday, 30 June 2023. Their second warning in two weeks. Seems our Texas elected officials and their governing agencies have not figured out two important postulates of Texas: The business and residential populations of Texas are growing and it get's hot in Texas.

Texas has the fifth-highest percentage of water pipes made of lead. How about your home?

Summary: Texas has the fifth-highest percentage of water pipes made of lead. Most of the lead in drinking water in our homes comes from older private residential service line pipes and plumbing pipes. "Nearly all homes built before the 1986 Safe Drinking Water Act have either lead pipes or lead solder in the plumbing systems." Find out if you need to have your home's drinking water tested.

Drainage Improvement Project, Phase One

Summary: The Stormwater Drainage Improvement Project in Willow Park started the implementation of Phase One beginning on April 2023 and is about 50% complete. The most recent update is 13 June 2023 with a financial report of Phase One and a report of construction bids for Phase Two.

Gone! TX Vehicle Safety Inspections... but not quite for Parker Co.

Most Texas drivers will no longer be required to have their cars pass an annual safety exam. But wait! Parker County car owners need NOT celebrate. Signed by the Governor on 13 June 2023 and effective starting 01 January, 2025, House Bill 3297 of the Texas 88th Legislative Session removes the need for annual TX Vehicle Safety Inspections.

UPDATE: No sooner had we posted the ERCOT Weather Watch, than ERCOT upgraded the alert to Voluntary Conservation Notice, which is second of three electrical grid emergency levels. This Voluntary Conservation Notice requires consumers to conserve electrical energy. / Summer has just started, and ERCOT has issued it first Electric Weather Watch!
