Last month, the Wellness Program invited Stephanie Cowart, a registered dietitian from H-E-B Wellness Nutrition Services, to hold a cooking demonstration at the Juvenile Justice Center. She put together a couple of tasty treats for the group.
Cowart prepared no-bake oatmeal cookies and fruit tacos. The oatmeal cookies consisted of peanut butter, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, oatmeal, and raisins. The fruit tacos were made with whole wheat tortillas, a hazelnut spread, sliced bananas and strawberries, and shredded coconut.
H-E-B dietitian services can be provided to Hidalgo County employees and their dependents who are covered by the county's medical insurance.

The Holiday Health Maintenance is coming to a close! The Wellness Program will be returning to departments visited back in November to weigh participants starting the week of January 16.
Participants are required to stay within 2 pounds of their initial weigh-in that took place before Thanksgiving.
There are also two bonus challenges that will end on January 13. Participants in those challenges were required to submit their number of steps for the week which needed to be at least 10,000 steps a week or attend the free fitness classes at the Precinct 2 Indoor Sports Complex at least two days a week.
