NEWS FROM DR. REID

Dear St. Patrick Families,

Our Christmas Concert was amazing. Thank you to all who made it a memorable evening. Parents, we appreciate all the support you give to the faculty, staff, and students of St. Patrick. Thank you Ms. LeBoeuf and Ms. Liberty for making the Christmas Concert a success. A video is posted on our Facebook/Instagram page (@stpatrickcharlotte), please take a look and like.

We have tremendous talent at St. Patrick. Fourth and fifth graders in band, displayed their musical abilities for family and students as we were able to hear them perform during their band concert.

Speaking of talent, how about our kindergarten students? It was a wonderful sight to see and hear the message of our Savior’s birth in their Nativity play. They did a phenomenal job.

Tomorrow is early dismissal at 11:30am and there is no after-school.

I pray you all have a Blessed and Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

Blessings,

Dr. Reid

NEWS FROM THE DIOCESE

THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION AND OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE

In a video created by Ethnic Affairs division of our Diocesan Catholic Schools Office, we see a special link between Mary’s Immaculate Conception and her image as Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Ethnic Affairs division serves schools as a resource for multicultural enrichment through education, celebrations, traditions, and teaching of the Catholic Church.

In the Catholic liturgical year, the month of December is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception. In December 1531, a Mass celebrating the Conception of Mary through St. Anne would have been on December 9 and on this day, Mary Immaculate appeared to St. Juan Diego on his way to Mass. The image Our Lady imprinted on his cloak very much portrays her as the Woman of the Apocalypse in Revelation, “clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet”, a portrayal that by the 17th century, became the standard depiction of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.
