We are using the last few months of the year to plan for a productive 2023. Our board retreat is scheduled for December 3, and we want your feedback. The community survey includes eight brief questions. Please consider taking a few moments to share your thoughts so we can improve how we serve the community. |

Campus neighbors clearing stone from the crop field. |

It is hard to believe, but we closed out our fifth garden season in October!! Over the past five years, we've established two neighborhood gardens, distributed fresh produce to thousands of families, and engaged hundreds of community members through volunteer events. The past month has been particularly exciting because volunteers helped us to complete major growing sections at the new Our Place Campus garden, and the scale of the 3-acre garden is coming to light. Below are a few highlights from the past month. We completed the orchard installation. Volunteers planted a total of 80 trees. We originally planned for 100 trees but have reworked the plan to ensure optimal growing conditions for the trees. The final steps of crop field construction have begun. We have signed contracts to complete the leveling and compost incorporation so we can begin planting this 1-acre section of the garden at Our Place in spring 2023. In October, we distributed 347 pounds of produce to campus neighbors and two pantries in the Reno/Sparks community. Volunteers from across the community donated 98 hours of their time to construct the garden at Our Place and maintain the existing growing spaces at both Saint Mary's and Our Place.
