Kelly Fowler Finds Meaning Through Higher Education

When Kelly Fowler was sentenced to eight years for a crime she didn't commit, she fought her conviction to exhaustion.  Finally, she felt she had to find something "to make this all make sense." That something: a college degree. She earned her Associate degree while at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility, and now attends Rutgers-Newark with the intention of earning a Master's. Earlier this year, she completed a research internship at Princeton University. "I worked with those scholars," she says. "I measured up." Read about Kelly's inspiring journey on our blog.

Deep Thanks to The First Unitarian Society of Plainfield:
Living their Mission with Generosity

FORTE House residents and staff are so very grateful to the The First Unitarian Society of Plainfield for their generous donation.  Their mission: "A welcoming, inclusive community to feed the human spirit, to inspire compassionate action, and to serve as a beacon for justice and love." That beacon certainly shone bright for us, as their donation will help fund technology investments for our resident students.  We are lucky to have the support of organizations who are focused on justice, compassion and love.
