We were honored! We would like to thank New York State Senator Robert Jackson and the members of the New York State Senate for recognizing our Founder and Executive Director, Elsia Vásquez at their 2020 New York State Senate Women of Distinction event. Under her leadership, P.A.’L.A.N.T.E. has been rated top-nonprofit 7 consecutive years and fiercely committed to empowering NYC residents to hold negligent property owners accountable for unsafe living conditions, preserving quality of life, wellbeing, and economic security of our black and brown communities. While this year’s event came amidst pandemic and national protests against police violence and systemic racism, we are taking this time to continue to help vulnerable families at risk of eviction so that they can avoid homelessness. |

The pandemic continues to magnify the many inequalities facing our black, brown, and latinx families across NYC. P.A.’L.A.N.T.E. is taking proactive steps to safely provide food, PPE, and other resources for our community residents. Last week, we provided culturally competent bagged groceries to 130 families to help them meet their basic needs. New unemployment claims exceeded one million last week. In New York, thousands are still unemployed along with the thousands of seniors and disabled who are at high risk of contracting COVID-19 and are experiencing rent burden and food insecurity. Starting in April, in the midst of the pandemic, we have assisted 354 families and with your help, we can do more. Remember that access to healthy, nutritious food is among the most fundamental of human needs. Food insecurity doesn't discriminate, especially during a pandemic. Every dollar counts and will support our COVID-19 Food Relief Project. You can choose to make a one-time donation (no matter how small) or become a monthly financial supporter. |

N.Y.C. Tenants Say They Were Tricked Into Appearing in R.N.C. Video"I am not a Trump supporter," one of the tenants said, adding that she was furious that her interview with a government official was used for the convention. It started with an unexpected call last week from Lynne Patton, a longtime Trump associate who oversees federal housing programs in New York. |
