President's Message LYNNE WARNE |
Andrew Carnegie once said: “Anything in life worth having is worth working for.” Those words ring true with the NCBWL. It’s worth the work to bring our members together each month, which happened so spectacularly in August at St. Cecilia Academy! What an impressive program. Special thanks to Sister Anne Catherine and her entire team for hosting us — as well as to our long-time member Nancy Peterson Hearn for sharing her amazing life story with us. And it’s worth the work to put on our annual fundraiser that supports the Aurelia Varallo Mariani Memorial READ MORE >> |

Mentors Needed for Young Catholic Professionals |
Young Catholic Professionals is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, originally founded in 2010 in Dallas to help young professionals connect with one another and maintain their Catholic faith while pursuing demanding careers. The Nashville chapter is being formed now, and their Membership Director Jessica Richards asked for the NCBWL’s help. “As part of our YCP programs, young adults may request a Catholic professional mentor. The mentor meets with the young professional periodically to talk about best practices at work and how to grow in holiness through their professional vocation. The time commitment for the program is minimal. Mentors may indicate how many mentees they are able to take on, and mentor pairs can commit to an initial mentoring relationship of 3, 6, or 9 months. We recommend meeting once a month. YCP supplies suggested discussion questions, though you and your mentee may choose to discuss any other questions the mentee has." If you have questions or would like to serve as a mentor, please feel free to contact jessica.richards@ycpnashville.org. Learn more about YCP’s Executive Mentorship Program. |

The Nashville Chapter of Young Catholic Professionals invites NCBWL members to its launch party at Blackstone Brewing on Thursday, September 30 from 7-9 pm. According to Jessamyn Frain, President of YCP Nashville, “Our hope is that many of the young women in YCP will join or feed into NCWBL as they grow in their career and seek a wider community in the Nashville area.” The launch party will feature live music from local Catholic musicians, free appetizers and drinks, and a kickoff speech from the YCP Founder and Executive Director, Jennifer Baugh. If you're able to attend, please RSVP online or visit the website to learn more. |

August Meeting Highlights |
St. Cecilia Academy On-Site Meeting, Luncheon and Campus Tour The goal was to gain a better view and understanding of one of the institutions we support. As expected, it was a marvelous idea! On August 19, the Dominican sisters welcomed league members at the foyer of St. Cecilia Academy. Unlike our regular league meetings, it was a summer luncheon meeting on a Thursday. The boxed luncheon, attended by over 30 league members and guests, was followed by an impressive display of talent by SCA senior students, a short talk by Pearls of Wisdom scholar Naomi Nicole Mejia, and a fireside chat with SCA alum Nancy Peterson Hearn (1951). What a fun way to kick off our campus tour series! Check out our photo gallery on the website. |
