Scent of Violets

Greetings

January was a busy art month for me; currently I have eight paintings in a new gift shop in St. Helens, OR. called “The Real Deahl.” Their web site is: www.therealdeahlgiftstore.com.  Aside from locally made art and crafts they manufacture and sell concrete yard art statues and pots.

Now that I have pieces in two gift shops/galleries, I need to get busy and create more paintings to change out each month.  Below is my latest, titled “Scent of Violets.”

The subject of this painting is near and dear to my heart. My grandmother had fragrant purple violets growing all through her yard and property. Even after the grass was mown, her violets still bloomed in the spring and created a fragrant purple carpet over their yard. Although the subject in the painting is not me, I would do just that and savor the heavenly scent. I currently have these same flowers growing in my own flower bed and they are blooming already. I brought some into my studio and could smell the wonderful fragrance while I painted this particular piece. I have to say it was very nostalgic. When I shared this painting on Instagram, one of my cousins wrote that she loved the memory of the violets as well, and also rolling down the hill that you see behind my subject.

Thank you for indulging me in this trip down memory lane.

Best wishes
