PARISH NEWS

REGENERATION SCHEME today

With our floors now having been refurbished, the last phase of the PCC’s five-year project to restore and beautify our building is complete. We thank God for the generous benefactors who funded the works. The works will be blessed during the Mass and there are celebratory drinks and canapés after. Please stay and join the party.

SPECIAL VISITORS today

We welcome to our Parish Mass The Venerable Elwin Cockett, Archdeacon of West Ham, who will consecrate the refurbishment works to the glory of God during Mass. We also welcome our architect Michael Poteliakhoff and some of the contractors who carried out the works.

FR GARETH’S LEAVE until next Sunday

Fr Gareth is on leave from after the 10am Mass today until the 8am Mass next Sunday. Urgent matters should be referred to Margaret Quinney our Churchwarden during this period.

REQUIEM FOR CONNIE NEWMAN Friday 12 noon

The Mass on Friday will be a Requiem for Colin’s mother on what would have been her ninetieth birthday. All are welcome.

BISHOP STEPHEN’S VISIT next Sunday, 10am

We are delighted that, unexpectedly, Bishop Stephen will be with us next Sunday for what will be his last visit to us as Bishop of Chelmsford before he moves on to become Archbishop of York. Please do be at Mass on what will be a very special occasion and the opportunity for us to say a personal farewell to him as he prepares to leave the diocese.

PALM CROSSES FOR ASH WEDNESDAY

Please bring in your Palm Crosses and leave them in the basket at the back of church to be burnt and used for ashes on Ash Wednesday (26 February).

MIRFIELD RETREAT deposit due Sunday 1 March

Those booked on the retreat, please put your non-refundable deposit of £150 in an envelope with your name on and hand it to Emma Jeffrey by Sunday 1 March. The remaining £200 should be paid similarly by Palm Sunday 5 April. Please note that we shall leave St Mary’s by coach on Tuesday 19 May at 10am and return on Friday 22 May at 10am.
