Hi, my name is Lia-Mee Bouchard. I have been a Chariho Youth Ambassador for 7 years now and just graduated from Chariho High School. As a student, aside from my work as an Ambassador, I did Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field, and Unified Basketball. This summer I am working with the Chariho Youth Task Force as the Youth Engagement Specialist. One of my favorite activities that I have done with the Chariho Youth Task Force is the annual Chariho festival of arts called Artessy where we have used art to educate our community about mental health, substance use, and body positivity. |

Another one of my favorite activities that I have done with the Chariho Youth Task Force is the Washington County Fair where I help run our education table. As Ambassadors we also have a lot of fun, for example, around the holidays we do a gift swap and it is so fun to see everyone’s reaction. The first event that I remember doing with the Chariho Youth Task Force was sponsoring foster kids for the holidays and purchasing gifts and personal care items for their families. Each year, we made a day event out of it and it was so fun. This summer I am completing a job shadow program through Tri-County Community Action Agency that allows me to work with the Chariho Youth Task Force. The Tri-County job shadow program is 6 weeks long and allows students to have a job and earn income. The first week is all classroom-based learning. We learn how to balance a budget, learn about financial literacy, and more details about how the program will be run, etc. As the Youth Engagement Specialist with the Chariho Youth Task Force, I will be working with Rebecca and Dan to plan youth programs for the next year, plan and implement summer events, partner with the Arcadia YMCA, add new educational information to our website, and much more. Each week I will spend my Thursday volunteering with one of our community partners, RICAN (RI Center Assisting those in Need) in Charlestown. I look forward to seeing many of you at an upcoming community event! Lia-Mee Bouchard Youth Engagement Specialist |

Congratulations Parents! You successfully made it through your child’s early formative years. But, hold on…welcome to the TEEN YEARS!! These years are a period of intense growth, not only physically but emotionally and intellectually. So it’s completely understandable that, at times, parents may have feelings of confusion, frustration and sometimes being overwhelmed. We created this booklet with you in mind.

Summer Safety Campaign It’s too easy for your child or teen to access drugs left on kitchen or bathroom counters and medicine cabinets. Securely store ALL painkillers and other common drugs. Count It! Keep a small number in a childproof bottle. Lock the rest. Lock It! Use a Lock Bag to secure medications away from youth. Drop It! Drop off unused pills at a Drop Box.
