Welcome to our Autumn Newsletter!
Autumn is here and that means harvest time.
We have been busy cooking over the last 8 weeks and we have the full cupboards to show for. Now we have to concentrate on the harvest.
Last year was the beginning of produce shortages and we are still experiencing this to this very day. So we are not out of the woods as yet as we had another "circuit-breaker" lockdown recently and markets cancelled. It stays challenging.
Mid Summer we harvested Currants and these are now in glasses. Many who know from our last years harvest that it will not last so this year we postponed the release until Autumn when hopefully no lockdowns will happen anymore.
Next to the Currants we had Gooseberries and our variety Gooseberry/Elderflower Jam didn’t last long - all jars gone in no-time!
Raspberries on the other hand are our main crop and our harvest started very late this year. The cool weather and lots of rain delayed it quite considerably and we started harvesting every second day since mid of February and close to 4kg every time. We now consider extending the season with Summer fruiting Raspberries. Works are on the way.
We couldn’t be more happy about it, as the uncertainty and availability of other fruit supplies is very challenging, to say the least.
Our plum trees produced an abundance of fruit and we are still processing and preserving for the Winter months ahead.
This resulted in quite a line-up of new products and favourites of our customers.
