"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path"  Psalm 119:105

Academics

Over the past few weeks, the curriculum meetings between each family and Mrs. Nicole Verhoef have been completed!  Thanks to everyone for your flexibility and cooperation as we navigate the new process.  Here are a few updates:

  • The Bible curriculum details are being finalized.  We plan to purchase a large screen and begin testing the teams-meeting links to ensure that we are ready.  ECS in Ontario is completely set up for this already as well, and we have been in frequent communication with them to make sure its a smooth transition for both of us.  We are in the process of ordering Bible Guides and Church History books for upper elementary students, and curriculum for lower EL Bible class is being developed.
  • The ACE curriculum work for each individual student is ordered, and we should receive it by next week.  Once we have received the PACEs we will be asking for help to organize and file them. We also need help putting the answer keys into page protectors and binders.  If you would like to lend a hand, please contact one of us!
  • Math Reminder: individual families are responsible for ordering their own ‘Teaching Textbooks’ online math courses.  http://teachingtextbooks.com/ .  Be sure to order the online version, not the course that comes on DVDs, since the Chromebooks we will provide will not have a DVD player.  You may use the DVD course if students use their own computers that are compatible with this format.
  • KCTC:  All our current students who were enrolled in KCTC through PCS are confirmed to remain registered for their course selections for the upcoming year! Please contact us with questions on the process.

If there are any homeschooling families that are interested in the ACE program or need help with setting it up, please feel free to reach out.  We are working out details to also potentially offer the Bible classes to homeschooling families for a small tuition fee.

Finance

  • The Lord has abundantly provided for this effort in many ways. We wish to acknowledge His goodness that we can begin the school year with substantial funds from donors.  We hope to finalize the budget plan and present it at a school family meeting.  Stay tuned for the date!
  • There will be an opportunity to support our school through a link on our webpage - this should be functioning shortly.

Staffing

  • The staffing plan has been completed for the elementary school and is close to finished for high school. Within the next week, staff members will review and sign contracts.
  • High school staff and helpers met last Friday to review the process in the learning center, and finalize schedules for each day.
  • An elementary staffing meeting will be held on Friday to orientate staff and parent helpers to the curriculum, the flow of the daily schedule, and roles within the learning center.
  • We have received an offer of help for administrative work and record keeping which is much appreciated!

Building

Two proposals for building rental have been submitted - one to Little Farms Chapel in Marne, and the other to the Coopersville Bible Church.  We have toured both facilities and the Coopersville Bible Church looks especially promising.  We hope to have an answer from them early this week.  May it be the prayer of each one that the Lord will open a way.

Legal

  • The 501(c)(3) application has been submitted to the IRS for approval.  This process can take up to six months.  However, the IRS allows organizations to utilize this designation immediately (as they will backdate the approval to the start of the organization).  This means that donations can now be received tax-free.
  • Registered schools are required to set up a webpage.   This has also been worked on and posted.  Be sure to take some time to navigate through our new website!  The updates will now be sent out through the webpage.

Ways to Help

Our little library has more than 100 books already!  Keep collecting - the more we have the better! Thanks to everyone who has been out buying or donating books so far.

If you'd like to help in other ways, but not sure how please call us!  Especially as we move towards opening the school year, there is lots to do!
