GDCTA E-News

connecting you to your community

Is the sun coming out any time soon?? This weather has been more for ducks than horses lately but we hope you are getting some ride time in anyway!

A few quick things and then the fun stuff - event info follows...

  • If you have not already renewed your membership, it's time to do so! Click here to go to the online Membership renewal form.

  • New!  Trainers – Do you have some students that have not joined GDCTA because of the cost?  GDCTA has a new sponsor that would like to help. They are giving away one JR/YR membership to one lucky person! Send Jr/YR names to
  • Erin McCloud McCloudErinL@icloud.com or Joanne Morse joannemorse1@yahoo.com by April 1st to be eligible for the giveaway.

  • New! Year-end Pony Awards~ Thanks to member Janie Kerr Pride sponsoring this award, GDCTA will now offer year-end Pony Awards! Details here.

  • As you will see below, we need a few volunteers to work the Laura Graves dressage clinic in April. If you volunteer, you get to audit the clinic for free. Check the website for open positions.

  • Lastly but no less important, we still need a Volunteer Coordinator for our horse shows and other events. The job entails emailing and calling people, many of whom you will not know. We have a list to get you started. You will work closely with the show manager (Caren Caverly). The 2020 show dates are

May 9 & 10 at Conyers (recognized - must attend)

August 1 & 2 at Wills Park

August 29 & 30 at Conyers (recognized - must attend)

October 10 & 11 at Conyers

We will need you to be at the 2 recognized shows but we provide a hotel room and meals.

While there is work involved, this is a very rewarding position and you will meet everyone in the horsey community! It's a great opportunity to give back to the GDCTA and the local Dressage/Eventing world.

Talk to Caren Caverly 770-713-4025 / ccaverly@comcast.net if you are interested.

We have a full slate of events for the year and more being added so check them out below. Let us know if you have questions or would like to volunteer (click here to sign up)!

GDCTA partner Competitor Tent is the new performance analytics app for competing equestrians.

The Competitor Tent app is the first of its kind in the equestrian industry, in that it provides competition results, training insights, and scoring analytics for riders competing in dressage, eventing, and other disciplines. The app also allows riders to track and share their training and competing journey with their friends in the Competitor Tent community.. If your shows are not part of their system, you can still add your scores so you can have a complete picture all in one place!

Plus there's the Competitor Tent community.a whole social section that will allow you to connect with other riders - similar to Facebook but pretty much all horse, all the time!

Competitor Tent is a free app available on the App Store (link below) and we encourage our members to download and use this great new resource. Additionally, later in 2020, Competitor Tent will launch an optional premium version of their app including advanced rider and horse analytics and horse profiles. Competitor Tent will offer GDCTA members a 25% discount to a one-year premium membership!

Now that you know what Competitor Tent is all about and you've downloaded the app, who would like to do some Beta Testing of one of their new premium features?

Let us know by filling out a Volunteer form with "Beta Testing" in the Favorite Volunteer Positions box.

We'll share the contact information of those who sign up with Competitor Tent.
