I will open my studio to the public during this year's (2019) East Bay Open Studios Event. Stop by my North Oakland Studio (11 miles from downtown San Francisco), enjoy a glass of wine and see what I've been up to in the studio this past year. Plan the rest of your  EBOS self guided tour with the online studio guide at EastBayOpenStudios.com.  Full location details and artist listings are available for your mobile access HERE (I'm site #80). Feel free to contact me to arrange an alternate date or time this Summer.

I will be participating in the 1st weekend / Region 1(North Oakland) of the East Bay Open Studio event. Saturday June 8th + Sunday June 9th from 11 am - 6 pm. On view will be new Watercolor Work on Paper, Encaustic on Panel, and a selection of new-never-shown Lithographs, as well as a few highlights from older series. I'll be on-site to discuss my work and toast with you to the Summer ahead!

ps... If you're planning to attend the Temescal Street Festival this weekend, my studio is a short 5 block walk from the Telegraph Business District!

I had a revelation this Spring. I think it's an appropriate season to stumble upon new self evident truths. Maybe all the seasons are good for that? What is it? Well, I lost a grip on all my fun-for-no-good-reason things. Its hard not to let that go, or rather its hard to keep that from transforming before your eyes no matter how tightly your squeeze. I mean, at a certain point almost anything you affect change upon becomes deliberate, and ends up mined for a jewel like purpose. Up until recently all the little 'mice' of my creative choices were nurtured to feed the 'snake' of my larger studio practice. That image should be more allegorical and less creepy high school goth *wink.

So, I did what any professional would do. I decided to put on the creative equivalent of a twirly skirt and went about dancing in circles (technically drawing in my sketch books). With unreasonably gaudy materials to tasteless degrees! The dayglo neon, and pearlescent, and shimmer, and metallic. While it is mostly contained within my private journals, touches  have floated into my more recent work. Stop by and see if you can find them.

Next for the summer... July I enter into my Summer Studio Break and tag along with my kiddos for a traditional non-camp-enriched summer vacation. Hopefully full of vegetable pickling and museums, and pie baking, crafty paper making, swimming, and even a bit of low tech, kraft foam, block printing. For no good reason. For Fun. Adventure onward everyone!

*Warmest Wishes*
