Who am I? 24-Day Project Habits Have Me Seeing Things Differently
It's hard to believe we are almost halfway through the year already! Instead of bemoaning it, I am trying hard to embrace it. And thanks to our 24-Day Project (we're now on round 6 or maybe 7?), I've added two things to my routines that I feel are making a real difference:
I'm writing my gratitudes at the end of the day. (Note: I'm really being intentional about this by using a specific notebook left on the nightstand with pen properly propped in place—I'm truly committing to this process.) Why am I doing this? I’m not a very “positive” person by nature. Maybe it’s how I’m wired to always look for what could go wrong or maybe it’s the fact that I get paid to find problems and help solve them in my career. Whatever it is, I have to say this is really stirring something inside of me. I am now LOOKING for things during the day to add to my list at night. Who am I? I feel lighter and dare I say more positive? Maybe this gratitude thing really works!
The other thing I’m doing is letting go more. I'm trying to notice in the moment what I have a death grip on. When I recognize what I’m holding onto, I try reframing it by asking, “Why am I holding it so tight?” Then I just see what it feels like to “drop the rope!” Again, who am I? (one more bonus habit is I’m trying to get 2 miles in a day – just a simple 2 mile walk even if I workout in other ways – walking is just so good for my brain!)
Whatever you are trying to improve upon, learn more about, or get better at in any area of your life, I’m here for it this summer! To help, be sure to read my 24-Day Project kickoff post and join in at any time. And please share with me what you're doing. As my extremely smart and beautiful cousin, Beth, reminded me recently, “We’re in it together!”
