Nantwich Buddies

Autumn Newsletter 2023

The temperature has dropped so it must be time for our Autumn Newsletter! We hope to bring you some warmth with updates on the brilliant charity dinner that was held recently and raised money for Nantwich Buddies. We also want to shout about our fabulous Volunteer Drivers who have now completed well over 250 trips.

We have included a few very brief case studies that share what our volunteers get up to and some information about the great work of our local Foodbank where we will be helping again at their annual 'Drop and Go' event later this month.

 Happy reading!

A Fabulous Fundraiser

Every year the Cheshire Police Federation and Chief Constable's Charity Dinner raises money for non-profit organisations in Cheshire. We were delighted to announce in our Summer newsletter that Nantwich Buddies was chosen as the sole beneficiary this year.

Our team helped to bring in raffle and auction prizes - we were blown away by the level of support and generosity from our local community. Thank you to everyone who either donated a prize, bought a raffle ticket or won the silent auction. Thanks also to the buddies who helped on the night - a great team! We were thrilled to raise over £8,500 which will be put to very good use.

A Very Driven Team!

As many people know, we run a small Volunteer Transport Service to help people get to medical appointments. Our service is for those who cannot drive, don't have anyone else available to take them, cannot afford a taxi and have been unable to secure the hospital patient transport service. So we really are the last resort.

Since we started the service in the summer of 2021, the team has completed over 250 trips and raised in excess of £1,000 in donations - all very gratefully received.

The volunteers don't get paid to provide this service - they all do it at their own expense and with a smile on their face. The wonderful comments about the team are too numerous to mention here but congratulations and thank you VERY much to Geoff, Geoff, Jane, Jill and Richard - you are all amazing!

A Few Case Studies......

Every quarter we report on our activity to Cheshire East so they have visibility of what's happening around our town. We are always encouraged to share case studies and the latest (below) have been shared far and wide within Cheshire East and their partners.

Supporting Our Foodbank

We were delighted to welcome the Manager of Nantwich Foodbank, Damien Gear, to talk at our Team Meeting in October. The Foodbank is an incredible resource for our town and the statistics are incredible.

They have supported over 18,000 people in the 10 years since they started and distributed 332 tonnes of food. In 2023 over 2220 people have received help with over 46,000 meals distributed.

In partnership with the Food Festival Team, the Foodbank will be running its annual 'Drop and Go' Reverse Advent Calendar (below) event on 25th November. People are encouraged to collect the listed items throughout November (it doesn't have to be everything) and donate at Brine Leas school on 25th.

We'll be there again helping to sort in the storeroom - please support this event, it will make so many Christmases happier.
