Hello, Art and Design Friends!Although current weather is erratic and unpredictable, we all seem to be craving opportunities to revitalize and reconnect outside in the new spring growth. Step aside, snow skis... let's break out the bikes! As I write this, I'm savoring time reconnecting with family in Ohio. The sights and sounds of my childhood come rushing back to me as I inhale the scent of green grass, feel a hug that takes my breath away, hear the sound of that one creaky floorboard at the corner of the hallway, share a meal of favorite flavors, and feel the room warm with smiles as we share photos and memories... this feels like Midwest kinship at its finest. Feeling the importance of connection is an essential truth that provides purpose and meaning to our lives. My goal is to inspire your personal pursuit of beauty and open your world to renewed, deeper connections with nature, your work, and other people – elements that make our collective journeys so sweet. What connection has fulfilled you recently? P.S. If your inbox is maxed out, you're always welcome to unsubscribe at the bottom of the page. |

Animas Refresh When a friend becomes a collector of my artwork, it is one of the greatest compliments I can imagine. The sense of connection I feel when I walk into their home and see my painting on their wall –– a part of their everyday life — is high praise indeed. A dear Albuquerque friend gave “Animas Refresh" a new home last year, and I couldn’t be more honored. I love how my artwork looks better settled in someone’s home than propped on my easel! |

We’re surrounded by so many artists and even more artistic interpretations of beauty. I encourage you to connect with an artist whose style resonates with you, and enliven your home with their work. "Animas Refresh" 40" x 30" | acrylic on canvas

Smiley Cafe What’s your favorite place to connect with a friend over a cup of coffee or warm baked good? Before I procured my creative space in the Smiley ArtRoom adjacent to the Smiley Cafe, I would frequent the cafe to meet with friends or graphic design clients, or work on my computer in its inviting environment. I was thrilled for the opportunity to rebrand Smiley Cafe, my favorite Durango coffee shop. They desired a bold yet friendly identity encompassing this unique cafe’s colors, textures, and vibe. |

Stop by Smiley Cafe sometime soon (Emory E Smiley Junior High School at 1309 E 3rd Ave, Durango). Share a brownie with an old friend, or connect with a new one over a boba tea... and Smile.

Sushi Night! Connecting over a shared meal is one of our greatest joys as a family and one of our favorite ways to entertain. Food is love to me, and I just LOVE a good sushi night! Did you know I started a gluten-free food blog 12 years ago? It was originally created to help another family member with celiac disease eat well with their new diet, and it turned into an ideal way to share favorite recipes with friends and loved ones. Check it out the next time you'd like some culinary inspiration.
