A note of Gratitude and Reflection from Stephanine Chapman, Owner As we begin 2023, I find myself overwhelmed with appreciation and excitement. I am extremely thankful for every single teacher at Bloom. I will never know what I have done in life to deserve the knowledgeable, dedicated, dependable and passionate team of teachers that we have, but I am beyond proud of each and every one of them, every single day! I am filled with gratitude for every human, student, and yogi who walks into our studio daily, weekly, or monthly. I value every interaction, every piece of advice and every ounce of love that each teacher and student pours into Bloom. And I recognize without all of you, Bloom could never be what it is today. I am dedicated to Bloom offering traditional yoga in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment. I was hired by Aimee and Emily six years ago and I still vividly remember walking into Breathe Yoga Studio to teach my first class. From the moment I entered the space, I knew I was home. Even on my worst of days, I walk into our doors and still immediately sense and smell HOME. I could never put a value on that. As we enter this new year, my excitement is focused on our community. The community of Bloom in each class and within the studio, as a whole. Even our events outside of our home (our studio walls); events within the actual Shreveport-Bossier Community such as winter and summer solstices, Sponsoring Yoga Farm Fest and our quarterly donation-based classes and drives. Together, we are planting seeds that I cannot wait to see flourish. Thank you for watering and pruning with us. Together we BLOOM. |

Yogi of the Month ............................... Angie Hemken |
Yoga started as a form of rest and recovery to complement Angie's other exercises and activities. She says that yoga has become so much more than that to her, now. She thoroughly enjoys the practice and it has given her a way to turn off the constant To Do list running through her head. Angie's favorite thing about Bloom is how approachable each teacher makes yoga. She said, "When I started practicing yoga again after taking many years off when having kids, I was worried that I would feel out of place in the classes since it had been so long. Dina was one of my first instructors and she immediately made me feel at ease. Every instructor since then has been the same way and that has made practicing yoga so enjoyable for me." Angie enjoys several classes, but her favorite class is Monica’s Ashtanga Half Primary Series. She "likes that she can easily track her progress each week since it’s the same series of poses in the same order each time. Also, as someone who constantly fights tight hamstrings, she enjoys all of the forward folds and downward dogs!"
If Angie could have a superpower, she would choose telekinesis. She's thought about this since she was little. Now, with young kids of her own, she says, "being able to move objects with her mind sounds really useful"! |
