Woodland Park achieves third reading at
Port Moody Council!
On July 20, 2021, Port Moody Mayor and Council approved third reading of the zoning and OCP bylaw amendments for the Woodland Park redevelopment proposal by EDGAR and BC Housing.
Back in December 2019, EDGAR and BC Housing submitted an application for an Official Community Plan amendment and rezoning for 1030 Cecile Drive (Woodland Park) to permit the development of a master planned, well-served community that will be built over the next 15-20 years.
Since submitting the application, we have presented to seven community groups, hosted four public and four resident-only information meetings, and had over 4,885 unique visitors to the project website. We also presented to the City of Port Moody's Community Planning Advisory Committee, the Arts and Culture Committee, and to Council for Early Input. The proposal has been informed by the feedback contributed by the community, Council and staff.
Key features of the proposed development include:
A range of housing options including 325 affordable rental homes, 132 market rental homes, and 1,595 strata homes
Two new public parks and a 1.5 km multi-use trail (approx. 3 acres of public parkland in total)
Protection and enhancement of 5.2 acres of environmentally sensitive areas
11,800 SF child care (approx. 93 childcare spaces)
19,000 SF neighbourhood serving retail
Public art budget of estimated $2.8M
Approx. $30M contribution to acquire land and fund a new road connection (with any excess land being provided to the City for its priorities)
The next steps include final approval of the bylaws, and development and building permit applications. We will also continue to engage the community, gather your ideas and provide project updates.
Thank you for your ongoing interest in the project.
Warm regards,
The Woodland Park Project Team
